Go to ccleaner.com and download for free ccleaner then run clean, and issues. if you do not have a spyware cleaner go to SUPERantispyware. com and of course another free download and it will clean up any spyware you might have which will slow down your computer considerably.

First of all, if you want to speed up your starting up a little bit, go to start->run and type: msconfig
Then go to the service tab and close service like AIM, Yahoo messenger etc. NOTE: Do not close any antiviruse programs. You will see some listing as:
C:\....Yah\...
which allows you to guess that it is a yahoo messenger service.
Also you can try increasing you virtual memory size.
Try defragmenting your hard-drive also.
