I often get sick and tired of so-called Christians who constantly moan about Christians not being perfect to continue their sinful attitude and behaviour. Read Matthew 5:48. Jesus commanded us to "Be perfect...as your heavenly Father is perfect." I can't stand it when professing Christians use the "I'm not perfect" line to justify their indifference to God's commands. Jesus did not condone it, Paul did not condone it, nor did any of the other biblical writers condoned that attitude. So all you so-called Christians who want to live like non-believers should stop this attitude or you will face the judgment of God.

YOU..... hit the Nail.... on the ... Head!

.... " So-Called... Christians ?....."

(Luke 6:46) And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

(John 14:15) If ye love me, keep my commandments.

(James 1:22) But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Thanks, RR

You have it backward.

As a Christian, who knows I have been saved by God's grace and the blood sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ, NOT saved for anything I did, do, or will do (works) ever in this life; I know ONLY Almighty God & Jesus Christ are perfect.

I do not admit to being imperfect & flawed to condone anything. I admit it so that non-believers & anyone else will look to & focus on Jesus Christ for an example of perfect love and a perfect life...not me.

I am a living testament to the fact that if Jesus Christ can love and forgive me and call me His beloved child....then Jesus Christ can love, forgive, save and change anyone.

Today, I am a much better person than I was before I became a Christian. I had a filthy temper without much control; I was instantly judgmental and heavy handed and unforgiving into the bargain for anyone who crossed or disagreed with me. My love and friendship were conditional...and they were on MY terms...and I was impossible to live with and to please for the most part. I was miserable and I made sure everyone was miserable with me.

I was a nightmare.
I was a mess.

I am thankfully none of those things today, but am I perfect now? Absolutely not. God is still working on me to mold me into being the best I can be in this life.

If you read ALL of Matthew 5, you will see that Jesus gives everyone examples of how they are to be, if they would be like God Almighty who IS perfect.

Jesus Christ who lived among us knew and experienced every temptation that we face. He knew/knows that perfection in this life is impossible for mankind, that is why He went willingly to the cross and died for our sins. JESUS was/is the ONLY perfect acceptable sacrifice for mankind's sins and failings.

I would never be so SUPREMELY smug and arrogant to proclaim that as a Christian I am perfect and sinless, because none of us are. We will not be perfect until we enter Heaven to be with The Lord. And that is ONLY because Jesus Christ's blood sacrifice covers us.

My church teaches that there was one perfect being on Earth, and that was Jesus Christ. The rest of us cannot, and never will be perfect. Do you think you're perfect? Please. There is no such thing as human perfection, since we are all sinners, born into sin, and utterly and completely unable to extricate ourselves from it, outside of the hope that lies in Christ's redemption. The very idea that human beings can be perfect is outrageous. As the Bible states, all our righteousness is as filthy rags. How can a being born into sin achieve perfection? Striving for perfection is a noble goal, but there's nothing like the come-uppance a person will get as soon as he thinks he's attained perfection. He will be humbled, and in a major way. No one person is better than another. Can you imagine the sheer arrogance and hypocrisy of a person who goes around thinking that he or she is perfect?

My friend, to strive for perfection through grace is what we all are called to do. However, we do have a sinful nature and because of that we do by nature sin. It is not an excuse, it is reality.

1 John 1:8-10 (New King James Version)
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Aren't you being a bit too demanding?
Paul in Philippians says he doesn't regard himself as having arrived spiritually, but is always looking to become more like Jesus.
James talking of teachers in his epistle, says that its virtually impossible for them to be perfect in every way, making it a heavy responsibility to be one.
Peter in his epistle tells his hearers to concentrate on achieving love since it covers over a mulitude of sins .. i.e most are likely to have many sins remaining.

Unfortunately, most Christians do not have faith in Jesus. They do not believe that they can become perfect, even though it is what He instructed. "I would that ye all become like me". That is an instruction.

No one can enter the Kingdom of God in an imperfect state. This is difficult to do, and so Christians rely on Jesus Christ to accept punishment for them, thinking that they will be accepted as perfect even if they make no effort. This is an abominable belief system. God reciprocates. If you serve God as Jesus served God, you can see God. Otherwise, you cannot.

Why, oh why, do Christians place their faith in the apostles? Jesus specifically said to them, "Where I am going, you cannot go". If they were following His instructions, they would certainly have been able to go. His suffering was a result of the imperfections of His disciples. How can you claim to love Jesus, if you don't obey Him? What is the meaning of your so-called love? If you teach your child not to steal, will you accept his theft, as long as he says he is trying not to steal? No. This is unacceptable. If he says, "I try not to steal, but I steal because I am not perfect", will you go to jail for him?

Pefection is nothing any human can attain but for the grace of God and man's free will using all those graces correctly. Everyone on the planet earth is a sinner.. to strive for perfection is all we can hope for through belief in God, there is no perfect person living here and now that fills the bill.

If someone sins...they should feel guilt and shame and seek repentance and forgiveness...not justify thier actions. I agree.
