The size of the ring does not matter at all...if it does, then she isn't doing this for the right reasons. The important thing is what the ring symbolizes!!

I might not be popular after this answer, but here goes...
I am the proud owner of a Tiffany's engagement ring. My husband did a LOT of shopping around and when he compared jewelers, he thought Tiffany's was the way to go. Let me state first that he didn't want to buy a ring from a mall jeweler because he didn't have a good feeling about it. He went to Jared's, CD Peacock, and there was one more. He priced the same rings (same 4 c's - cut, color, clarity, carat) and found that Tiffany's was pretty much the same as the others he went to while searching. I was very hesitant about him going through Tiffany's, but they have it all figured out in customer service, quality, etc. We get Christmas cards from our saleslady, she always remembers us when we come in, sends thank you notes for every purchase, and we get free cleanings on ALL Tiffany's jewelry now. It may seem kind of dumb, but you really get the 'whole package' at a place like this. My friends have rings that come from other places and they have beautiful rings, too...there's no doubt in that. It all depends on what you feel comfortable with. A .21 carat ring will be perfect because it came from you, you didn't 'break the bank', and you thought out a very important purchase. Look around...you may discover there's a more perfect ring out there or not. You'll know it when you see it, and she'll love you for asking her to marry you :) GOOD LUCK!!!!

don't buy from Tiffany's unless you can afford it. Don't skimp on the ring just to get the name. Know what your girlfriend likes before buying anything. Personally, I feel .21 carat is too small. However, if that is all you can afford at a place other than Tiffany's....let your girlfriend know that in the future if she doesn't like the ring you'll buy her a bigger one. Tell her that you love her so much you just didn't want to wait any longer to propose so you bought what you could afford. She should be so happy she'll say yes and tell you the ring is gorgeous and a bigger one isn't necessary.

I would go to another store and get a bigger diamond rather than go to Tiffany's and over pay for a tiny one. You are paying like 3x mark up just because you are in Tiffanys.
A diamond is a diamond is a diamond. Their value is based on the C's. Cut, clarity, carats. It doesn't matter if you get it from the street corner or Tiffany's...you don't get any bonus points for that.
If it is just because of the design any reputable jewler can custom make any design you want for half the price. If my HTB gave me a Tiffany's ring I would have him take it back and get one someplace else. I just think it's stupid to overpay that much for a name. Especially when noone can tell the diff.

I'm probably going to get booed for this answer, but seeing that robins egg blue box from Tiffanys....awwwww....Secondly - if it came from the man I love and truely wanted to spend the rest of my life with, I don't care how big or small the ring is. Just a suggestion: if you have a round .21 carat stone, place it in a square setting. My ring isn't too big - but it's in a square, raised setting and makes it look bigger than it really is. This gives the illusion of a bigger ring.
Good luck and she will love anything that you get her because she loves you!

You could buy a bigger diamond if you would consider getting something not from Tiffany's. Also, getting a white gold setting instead of platinum will reduce the cost and allow you to spend more on the diamond.
It really doesn't matter what the size is as long as the love behind it is real.

If you are buying it because its a "tiffany"
Once you put a diamond (of good quality non-Tiffany) in a setting who is going to know its NOT a Tiffany?
if you do buy a .21, then make sure its a small setting to make the stone look bigger. (but it will still probably be too small)

If she wears earrings with bigger diamonds in it then yes it is too small.
May want to go down in quality a bit and get a larger diamond.
For Clarity it should be at least eye clean, VS2 or better should be good.
For color Colorless or the top half of near colorless, H or better.
For Cut, if it graded very good or better iy should be fine.
Take a look on your budget at www.bluenile.com online and see what you can get, they have a tiffany style setting there.

Before you buy anything, learn about diamonds. Find out what the 4 'C' s are. You don't have to buy it new either. Take a look at pawn shops.
I know girl's say size doesn't matter, ( yeah, right ) So shop around and try and get a deal. Make sure you know the type of cut she wants in a diamond. ( One of the 4 C's again) good luck and congratulations.

Well from a girls perspective yes. I just got engaged and I think for an engagement ring a third of a carrot or bigger is best. If Tiffany's is what your heart is set on be prepaired ot spend some serious money. Try looking at www.shaneco.com. I don't know where all of thier locations are but they have an amazing selection and tons of perks with their stuff. They have a better price and quality stuff! So you could spend less money and get something bigger!

I'd forget about Tiffany's. If all you can afford is a small ring. People are going to think it is cheap because in peoples eyes, bigger is better, therefore bigger = more expensive.
But then you guys will know it is Tiffany's and you will know waht it cost.
Just dont throw away good money just for a name brand.
Good luck and congratulations
