We pray to be in fellowship with Him. It's the building of a relationship.

God's plan does not necessarily dictate your life. There are countless examples in the Bible of people breaking down and praying, and then getting what we pray for. Does that mean they changed God's plan? I highly doubt it. Does that mean God plans for you to pray when you pray? That depends on whether you believe in predestination.

Tell your SS Teacher that she is very bold to believe she knows what God's plan is. That he plans for every single thing to happen. He does however, know everything that will and has happened because He exists outside of time, seeing beginning middle and end.

Hope this helps, but I may have just confused you more.

God has a divine, and a permissive will for your life, prayer pushes it thru, and since he knew what you were going to say think and do,what you pray for he had already put that in your heart, all prayer does is strenghthen your faith in him, your relationship, and builds you up spiritually, the way it works prayer can change the order of things, and the people involvedl it never changes what god originally planned, all things work out for the good for those who love the Lord, the Lord wants you to learn how to pray for others, and yourself according to the word of God,He does not have one set of people that his will involves around,Prayer gives you a personal relationship with him and those that delight themselves in him he will give you the desires of your heart,Your teacher was wrong to tell you to shut up and sit down apparently she had no answer to your question, watch who you listen to or learn from not all are called of god if it does not match the word dont recieve it study to show yourself approved then you will know the perfect will of God for your Life. Be blessed and I hope that answered your questions. Lisa One more thing Elijah changed the weather by prayer

Hello,
Yeah a lot of people in this world has doubts about God, and since he knows what is going to happen, why pray right? Well the thing is you need to have FAITH!! Faith is the best way to go. Praying is good in many ways, it makes you a stronger person in Jesus Christ, Praying to God is a way of talking to him. There are many ways to pray. But what exactly are you praying for? i mean you can't be praying for things like, God i pray you give me $$ or have a boyfriend. Silly prayers like that don't get answered.
Your Sunday School teacher should not have spoken to you like that at all. That is not Christ like.

Prayer is a way of fellowshipping or spending time with God. If you read book of Exadus, when God was going to destroy Isrelites he prayed asked God not to. God Listened to his prayer. Abraham prayed for his nephew's city, God was merciful. I know there are many other examples in the Bible where God listened to the prayer of his saints. Bible says prayer of riteous avails much. I am sure people in here can enlighten you more. We all can attest to our own life where a specific prayer has been answered.

Think of the plan as a theatre play, and of people as actors.

Now, the play has a begining and an ending, and there's a whole lot of acts in between that need to happen.

But the actors need to act and be part of it!

You ask what good is it to pray if there's a plan? Well an actor can say: what good is it to act if the play is already written?

Why pray? He likes to hear from us. Our concerns and desires. The good things that delight us and the bad things that trouble us. Communication. Just like talking to Grandpa. He loves you and wants only the best for you.

Yes, God has a plan for our lives but we do not have to accept it.
If we accept Him then we WANT His will (plan) for our lives and pray that it may be accomplished.

As far as changing His plan, He is far more wise than we can even imagine and we would do well to take advantage of that.

God bless.

God's plan is man's salvation. It is not whether or not you go to college or such. When we pray we invite God to have his will in our lives.Prayer is more than a request line to God it is communication the same as you communicate with your parents. You can ask and receive blessings by inviting God through prayer to make something happen in your life.We always pray in accordance with God's will because God knows the end of all things ans what is best as we can only see what is before us God does see all things.

You are a bight and smart kid!
If you are a kid!

God has a plan for everybody it is true, in the sense of guidance. God does not affect free will. So he has the plan to save you, but it is like when your earthly father would say:
I knew he was going to do that.

God says that there are ways for you to add days to your life,
How old would you get then, how many days would that be?
I don't know.

My father for example asked us to put money together for a heart surgery at his age (82), no way he was going to survive.
we talked to him, I did not pray, I normally don't, I allow God to drive my life, I reason though.

so he acted smart and accepted whatever comes, next year he will be 84.

We pray to make sure we are in the 'plan' that God has for us. His is the best plan, but He still gives us choices. Just because He has a plan, doesn't mean that we will always be in it.

ps your ss teacher NEVER should have told you to shut up =(

I asked this same question the other day.

You pray to a God to have a problem fixed or question answered. But that same God has a plan for you so whatever is set to happen will happen. So what is the use of praying?
