I think it is extremely unprofessional - especially in a corporate setting - and reflects poorly on the company image. Going without hose reminds me of women on the street or ones you see in strip clubs. Very unprofessional. Heck if you allow women to go with skirts and no hose why not let the men show up in bermuda shorts?
Dress in general has gone WAY too casual. The movie stars and TV personalities you see strutting around without hose have nice pedicures and pay people to make sure they and their legs look good. The average woman in the US has neither the time or money to pull the bare leg look off. I'd say 9 or out 10 women who go bare leg really shouldn't and they are embarassing themselves. Uneven skin tone, dry skin, cracked heels, nasty toes, veins popping everywhere, cottage cheese, the list goes on and on.
I have no problem with people being "comfortable" or "confident" with their appearance. If you think you look good fine - but don't get all upset that some people may not care for the way you dress and think you legs are unattractive.

It really depends on the dress code. Also, depending on the office atmosphere, open toe shoes are allowed in the summer months and stockings wouldn't look right with those. I'm a big fan of women in hose, but it's not always required for work. I don't compare it to men wearing socks either. If men are required to wear a jacket and tie, then women should be expected to cover thier legs when they wear a skirt or dress.

In some cases. However, women's workplace fashion has become increasingly accepting of more casual, reavealing, and even "trashy" items in recent years. Examples from my own experience include: low-cut dresses, blouses and skirts, VERY tight shirts, partially see-through shirts, open-toed sandals, and of course bare legs. While I as a single, debaucherous man do enjoy these departures from propriety, I also bemoan the loss of class and character they represent, and also the inequality faced by men who, no matter what, must still wear slacks, collared shirts, socks, black shoes, and a tie.

I think if the office is profession attire or business casual then women should we wearing some sort of hose. They now make footless hose so you can wear open-toed, a bit strange but better than no hose. Too many women wearing flip flops to the office.

Women at work with no stockings are great! It is not at all like a man not wearing socks. I say, wear whatever makes you comfortable, while nominally adhering to societal mores. Good idea?

Exactly, and if it were up to me I would send them home to get properly dressed. It shows laziness, dis respect for the position and the workplace, and immaturity. I am in my 20's and always wear them to the office excepting possibly weekends when we all go in super casual.

It all depends on what type of work she does. If she works in a professional office type of work environment such as a firm, or bank than she should wear stockings or hosiery to work. This makes her look professional, and very sexy.
However, if she is working in a nonprofessional job such as waitress, or a cashier then it's ok if she doesn't.

Nylons are fast becoming a thing of the past. Most women prefer the look of a bare leg, myself included.
And just so you know, men without socks is common practice in NYC during the warmer months of the year.

I don't have a problem with that. Stockings are hot! Maybe I should just wear trousers. Of course I don't wear socks with my trousers either.
