No, you are not the only one, and I guess I will meet you in hell. People do not understand the power of the subconscious mind and how it works. By continued repeating of a phrase or set of sentences, you can brainwash your own mind into believing something. What is done in a church? Repeating the same thing over and over, week after week, etc. It is a form of brainwashing, in fact it is the most basic form of brainwashing, which includes a form of punishment for not believing. The human mind obviously does not like punishment and hence another part to the brainwashing. You are an observant person for noticing that, since many would not. And then you subject children to that from a young era, saying the same prayers, etc. It is shameful.

It absolutely is a form of brainwashing, and one of the reasons it was created was to control people. The Catholic Church had enormous power in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. It's still got plenty of power now, as do most other religions. Religion doesn't just try to control actions, although that's a huge part of it (when you can have sex, with whom, etc., for just one example) but it also tries to control thoughts.
Before all you believers start slamming me, answer me this: can you even explain to me why you believe what you do? When did you first learn about religion? When you were a child, too young to be able to think for yourself. If you were going to brainwash someone, isn't that ideally when you'd start?

Your are not the only one child. Seek those that ask such questions out. We are here. The reason that these religions and governments use children is because children believe anything you tell them, so it is easy to gather the innocent and tell them they are doing gods work and making their home safer. It is governments (our own USof A) the religious zealots, the institutions that we allow to do this. It is time for a revolution that is the over throw of these things, not a war against people or ideas. No idea ever killed anyone - it's us people following through that do the killing.

I believe that some people are so into their religion it is starting to be a form of a cult. There are a few people in my school that have had assemblys and what not telling people how good there religion is. They have also been calling in on parties and telling on everyone for something that is against there religion. So yes i believe they are trying to brainwash our school into being them.

No, I'm a pretty religious person. I, however, am different in the fact that I don't have a set religion, because I don't believe everything that one religion believes. I kinda take my own beliefs based on the bible and what I think it means. I think it is stupid to go to war based on religion though, people should be more accepting. I believe you have to fight for some things, but not religion.

Religion is a way for people to explain the unexplainable...always has been. There are very few true "religions" that preach going out and participating in war, killing children, or just all around hurting your fellow man. Now...people F up, they twist and distort things to fit their own ends. Extremists if you will. But Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Muslim, etc. do not promote such things by their existance. It's people.

Just like guns...guns don't kill people...people kill people.

remember that religion is created by man. if i want to control people, then getting them to believe in a supreme being is a big help. if i can also get them to believe the way i want them to believe, it makes my power greater. that said however, there is a difference between religion and faith. religion is man based, with mans rules, and mans interpretation of said rules. whereas faith is god based. i believe in god because there are a number of different religious tomes that proclaim that god exists. there are also enough different religions, and denominations of each religion, that tells me that there are higher powers at work here. there is good and there is evil in the world, you cant have one without the other. therefore choose to accept that there is a god, and i have also chosen to accept the christian god. if you were to ever meet me in person, and talk about a variety of subjects, you would find that i am not brainwashed into believing things i choose not to believe.

I believe religion started innocently, but has been used over the years to control people! You'd think in this day and age, everyone would see that the ancient people couldn't explain things so they made up stories or elaborated on them to explain what they couldn't. None of them are correct or can be proven so why fight over things you can't prove? It's ridiculous!!! I don't believe in Hell either, but if there is one, I guess I'll see you there!

I have never called it brainwashing but I do not believe in it. Religion was created as a social control so that a few could control the many with very little resistance.

Everyone is brainwashed - it just depends on what you're brain is washed with. Even a person who is not religious really is. A person who says there is no absolute religious truth- is making an absolute statement about truth. Religion won't get you to heaven in any size shape or form.
