It was Henry VIII's will. I bet he didn't really believe in god

No, it was God's will to have PAPISTS in power. Henry VIII decided that since he was Gods representative on Earth (lol) he was the only one who could decide what was God's word or not and seeing as how he wanted to hop in the sack with anyone he felt like under the guise of Begetting an Heir---he decided to change Gods laws for his own lecherous wishes.

No, it wasn't. Henry VIII was a slightly imbalanced man with lots of power. In those days everything a King did was considered God's will and to question it was treason. But, in truth, he was just a lucky mortal. He didn't even have much 'royal' blood. His ancestors won the crown on a battle field.

I'm sorry, but this whole concept of "God's Will" drives me batty. If there is a god, and he has a will, then it obviously gets thwarted at every turn.
And the most ghastly things, (for which any human found responsible would be considered an evil, psychopathic and sadistic monster) happen to people or their loved ones, and are then attributed to God's will. Good or bad, over which we frequently have no control, are apparently all God's will. The "free will" argument holds no water here.

In the case of Henry Vlll, like the rest of humanity, he did what he found the most expedient for his own selfish needs. The far reaching consequences of his actions were either good or bad depending upon whether you were getting hanged or doing the hanging.

To think of a God existing who would be concerned with the minutiae of the various religions which each purport, (then and now) to know exactly how he feels about everything, and exactly how he wants them to behave in every detail, is to diminish anything I could possibly conceive of deserving of the title "God" to its most base and petty form.

Of course not! Henry took control of the Christian faith just as the emperor Constantine had in the third century. Both in order to form a religion of thier own convenience where Henry wanted to be able to divorce his wives, Constantine wanted to keep the pagans happy. God had nothing to do with it. If He had you would not have seen so much perverted doctrine come in with them. If you want to see what God intended Christianity to be like, read the book of Acts and the epistles of Paul in the New Testament. That is what was established by those who witnessed the teachings of Christ and practiced before Rome took over.

I don't know. But isn't King Henry VIII fascinating? He was a monster, but so fascinating!

This was man's will to have something the church would not allow. He also beheaded his wife's confessors for not revealing to him what she had said in confession. Being assigned to the confessional in those days in England was probably not a priest's first choice.

Sure it was. God put the king in power, so anything he does is willed by god. Subsequent kings and queens stated the same thing. Could they be wrong as well?

Absolutely. Can not even be questioned.

God is in control, no matter who your God is. If not, what good is he. she, or it being in a position as your God.

If you can not accept that you best look at your God or lack of a God.
