Gadiodian Shift has given you the real scoop, except for the hiring process, if you have a valid first class airman's medical certificate, thats all the company will want to know.
As he said there are different test, but the easiest to PASS, is the "SODA" (Statement of DEMONSTRATED Ability), it is a light gun test where a controller in the tower, flashes different color lights at you and you have to id them to a FAA Inspector,
you pass, you get the letter, and night flying privileges and landing into a controlled field are restored.
THis test is easy to pass even if you only see in black and white.
Have your flight instructor make an appointment with the tower guys to "practice" the gun test. When they flash a green light he will tell you "that is green", white, "that is white", red, "that is red". practice this until YOU can id them, even if it takes a few visits. (ATC folks love pizza) when you are confident you can differentiate the three, make an appointment with the FSDO in your area with a FAA inspecter, do the test, all is good!

Good luck to you, dont let this small handicap stand in your way if what you want to do is fly...

I have looked at the other answers but none are correct You would not pass any form of medical Pilots are required to be able to distinguish the PAPAs (thats lights at the runway end that assist the pilot to get their height correct on landing /approach, these lights are Red and White) The pilot must also be able distinguish light refraction while flying in VFR mode (Visual flight rules) This is needed during look out for other aircraft

It depends on the degree of color blindness. There are a variety of approved color vision tests needed to get your medical certificate. If you can pass any of these tests, then at least as far as the FAA is concerned, you are good to go. I'm not sure about hireability in these cases. Airlines might set stricter standards in hiring then just passing your FAA medical exam. See the link below for more information.
