We're over 80% water. Water is used to bulk out our cells, it acts as a transport medium for glucose, vitamins, minerals, neurotransmitters etc. Most of our blood is water. We use water to excrete waste products in the form of urine and sweat. Without water we wouldn't be able to breathe, because a thin layer of moisture in our lungs as a pathway for oxygen to pass through into the blood.

Staying "hydrated" means that all these things can happen. We lose water constantly, so to stay healthy and to keep our bodies functioning we need to regularly replace our bodies' water content.

Along with improving your general health, water acts as a solvent for nutrients, carrying them to various parts of the body. Water also removes wastes and toxins from our bodies via sweat/urine.
