Hi there. There are many home theatre systems out there from the most expensive to the cheapest .From the best sounding to the worst sounding equipment and everything in between. So as you can appreciate it is impossible to recommend something unless you give me more details.Ok i will try to work something on what you have indicated. How much is not expensive to you .They range from about $150 to $10,000 or more. Do you want a HTIB (a home theatre in a box ) All components of these are made by the same company to use as a whole .Convenience at the expense of sound quality.
Next up the list we have the individual components that you buy to hook up together. This way you can take time to check them out for sound quality ease of use and features you would like,The lower price ones would not have the same quality of sound as more expensive ones (in general ,sometimes there are exceptions) So the choice of Amplifier,(Receiver, Pre-Amp/Processor, Power Amp(s) is very important .The quality of your DVD player's sound processing will determine the final sound you get from your speakers.all the other equipment passes this signal on with greater or less accuracy. It cannot be improved or enhanced. It will only be amplified in various stages until it gets to the speakers. The choice of speakers is a personal one as they all add their own coloration to the sound.
Like i said before if you can give us more details it will be easier to recommend something for you. Thanks.

i cant say nobody beats bose because u CAN NOT run ur video thru a bose receiver meaning u cant run ur receiver as the brain which is why we all want surround sound......i would go get a nice sony head=) like the other guys said and u can prolly get one for round $200 then go get u a nice 5pc speaker set from another model u see maybe cerwin vegas or kenwood which is what i have......then get a powered subwoofer if u want one and there u have it......this way u can run all ur components meaning ur tv/sat whichever u have then ur dvd and cd all into the back of the sony receiver so when u change the selection on ur receiver thats what u will see on ur screen without having to change channels on ur tv
P.S. u dont need to buy a cd player as ALL dvd players play cd's as well so that would just be wasting money on something u dont need instead of having extra money for everything else u want

Honestly? It all depends on your budget. Also, you want to be sure and put at least 15% of what you are going to spend on audio and video cables. Again, depending on what you want to spend you want to be sure that your receiver can push out enough watts to your speakers and that your speakers can handle the power. You want good, clean bass from your subwoofer and you want a center channel speaker that will give you clear and accurate sound since this is where most of your dialouge will be coming from. Definitive Audio makes great speakers as well as Infinity. If you want premier brand you might want to consider KEF or Martin Logan. Receivers, I would go with Denon or Yamaha. It really comes down to you spending some time at certain audio stores where you can mix and match speakers with recievers and find the right sound for you. Take cd's and DVD's so you can test them. Good Luck!!!

If you wanna do some research, making your own home theater system is a lot cheaper than buying one w/ all the parts...and it's probably better too! What you need to find are reciever/amp, subwoofer, and 5 speakers. It's more work than finding just one system, but it's a lot of fun too

Buy for now and the future, The RHT-G800 Sony Home Theater has all the software, speakers and connections you’ll ever need for $1000 – and it doesn’t take up space or cables!
