Is it as good as people say it is? I heard it’s probably the best largest city in the world. What do I need to know?

It's dirty but it gives tons of opportunities...it's up to u and what u dream to be....ahhh bring a lot of money....:P

New York City is the place to live if you are looking for an American city with culture. Furthermore the place will always keep you on your toes. NYC is a constant source of activity. There is nothing you cannot find in the city that is not a subway ride away (which is always at most 2$!) Nevertheless, the general living and spending (apart from transportation) expense of the city is something most definitely undesirable to many. It is your choice where you can live, for the 5 boroughs (Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island and Manhattan) all offer different opportunities.

The greatest thing about living in New York City, as with any city is the wide variety of resources and jobs there, many of which are centered around the financial center. Compared to other major industrialized cities, its infrastructure is probably less developed (After going to Tokyo I was quite disturbed by the poor condition of our major highways and our mass transit network). The public schools as a whole are quite poor, but there are many excellent private schools in the city.
Having lived in NYC for 14 years, I can say that New York is probably the most ethnically diverse city in America, and that it is a very exciting place to live.

The New York Metro region has about 22 million people. That's stretching out to Bridgeport, Connecticut to Essex County, New Jersey, yet many in the outskirts work in NYC, so yes 22 million and growing quickly.

I love New York City so0o0o much. I've never lived there but i go down to New York every year (my aunt has a beach house on Long Island). I think you should live in NYC. You only live once, might as well :)

i agree with william m. up there. lol NYC is a great city. so many people, so much to do. Its so much better than some random suburban city. NYC IS AMAZING!!

well, it is a VERY expensive city to live in, so if you can afford it,it is a nice place to live. Rent is very outrageous.
