I want to know if anyone knows where I could purchase or rent lighting for my wedding. I want the floor lighting the gives a color uplight to wash the walls with color. I hear it is inexpensive and it can be a DIY, so that you can cut the cost of hiring a lighting company.

Complete color washes like that you are probably going to need a lighting company.
To DIY it is pretty easy though if you just want uplighting. Go to goodwill and buy all the ugly lamps you can get ahold of. Cheaper and uglier the better. Build wooden frames, probably in box shape, and cover with colored plexiglass or even tissue paper to get the colors. Set it on top of the lamp and plug the lamp in or you can take the lamp apart and just use the wiring if you want something low profile. Make sure that there is at least 3'' on either side of the blub and some sort of open space for the hot air to vent out or you might start a fire.
Special uplights like people use at X-mas time on their houses to make them red and green can also be bought at the hardware store for about 30 bucks and you can usually paint an overhead trasparency to get the color you want. I would definately reccomend this method. afterwards you can sell them to get your money back.

Looks like a neat idea- have you checked those rental places? There is one near me (I'm in Indiana though) that is called Grand Rental Station. They rent out everything from tables and linens to tools and stuff. We rented our chairs for our wedding from their. Reasonably priced and they delivered and picked them up. Best of luck to you and I'm sure it'll be lovely.

You could buy some cheap spot lights from Target or home Depot that plug into the wall and put some colored bulbs in them, or some thick colored plastic. Then sell them on Ebay!

What area are you in? I live in the Buffalo Area and there are 2 companies that attend the bridal shows, with young good looking guys to boot!
