There are a couple of factors to consider. One is how much do you owe on the Nissan? Is it a 2 or 4 wheel drive?

What can you sell each car for? Are you trying to save cash, or reduce monthly expenses? If you sell the Pontiac, you will have a lump sum of cash, and still have a car payment. If you sell the Nissan, you most likely can pay off the note, but will not pocket much cash.

I would sell the Nissan, and keep the lower mileage, newer, Pontiac. You have to look at what will work best for you!

I'd probably dump the Pathfinder. The warranty still exists, which might help selling it (assuming it's transferable, etc). However, it's probably not a problem car -- but neither is the Pontiac probably.

You might need tires on the Pontiac soon (60k miles is popular) so expect that expense. However, on the financial side by unloading the Pathfinder, you dump that debt and payment. You might be upside down in the loan and still owe something if the car is worth less than the loan is for. However, you'll have $325/month NOT leaving your pocket to pay for it, so you might pay a few months at $325 still but then it's GONE. No more car payments.

When you're married you'll want to then try to bank ~$1000 together for emergency fund stuff. Then, work on paying off any other loans. Next, you'll have some better cash flow and some good credit -- so save up 3-6 months of expenses in the form of CASH and park it in a interest bearing savings account for a rainy day (like losing a job, etc).

Women like financial security, so this will also demonstrate you are the man... :)

Good luck.

Okay, I am the fiancee in question with the Nissan Pathfinder. The dilemma is actually which vehicle to keep if neither one has a car payment. If we sell the Grand Prix then the money from that sale can be used to pay off the loan on the Pathfinder. Then we would have no car payments and a vehicle with a warranty for at least another 20,000 miles. Having phrased the question that way....Which vehicle should we hold onto???

You probably owe around $5500 on the Pathfinder. I cant see the Pontiac needing $5500 dollars worth of work in a year and a half. Plus you don't have a loan on the Pontiac, so I would hold onto the Pointiac and take that $325 a month and put it in a seperate account. Use that money for any repairs on the Pontiac save the rest for your next car.

That's a simple answer. If you want to save money selling the Pontiac will not save you anything. Sell the car that costs you $325 a month.

Even if the Pontiac needs occasional repairs it won't cost you $325 a month to cover the cost of those repairs. A 2003 Pontiac should get you to where you need to be in two years.

If it was me i would dump the pathfinder get rid of that 325 per month plus insurance and keep the grand prix and take the gamble that nothing major is going to happen in the next two years......... If the decision was solely based on saving mone.
if you get rid of the grand prix your not gaining anything other than your insurance costs.

keep the one with no payments. that way you are saveing money in all kinds of ways. tho the pathfinder is a nice car it is a bit of a gas guzzler compared to the pontiac.

I extremely have a Husky, and my vehicle gets coated in his hair. I vacuum the perfect i will, and then i exploit a lint curler. And for the stressful to get at cracks/areas interior the seat, I in simple terms tear off a bite of the lint curler paper and use it via pressing it down onto the area the previous college way. Works spectacular :)

they are both fun cars, but i think you'd be better off holding onto the pontiac. you'll have better gas mileage, and it feels sooooo good to not make car payments.
