ok, this sounds kind of messed up but i assure you it is the best way. get a paper towel and wipe him down there next time he goes or simply use it to clean up the urine. next take the paper towel and put it wherever you desire for him to go to the bathroom at. a dog uses the bathroom wherever it can detect traces of its own urine or another dog's urine which is why if you take the dog to a park where other dogs do not normally go it will take him forever and a day to find a place to use the bathroom because its new, try this it worked for me.

How big is the open pen and how much time does the dog spend there? If it is small, and the dog spends a lot of time there, he will never urinate there, it is his resting space. You would either need a larger pen which would give him space away from where he lies down to relieve himself, or put up with his use of the yard instead of the pen as his bathroom. If space is a problem, then you need to retrain him to use the pen as a place to relieve himself and another place to rest, eat, drink water, etc.

We have all of our dogs go in a pen.
I will tell you this, it was not easy, but after many days and lots of patients, it finally worked.
Every time we took them out, we would bring them in the pen, tell them "do your business", stand there for quite sometime and praised them to no end when they did something.
If they went somewhere where they weren't supposed to go, we tell them "no" and bring them into the pen and say "do your business".
Sounds silly, but it worked.
Also, I am not too sure, but you can give either tomato juice or some sort of juice to them to drink once daily, that neutralizes their urine and it will not make your grass turn yellow. Maybe google it, yellow urine spots, how to treat. I wish I could remember what juice it was.

U should put him in his pen and not let him open if u dont want him to pee all over the yard... Then when u are home let him roam and when u see him gonna pee then get him to go into his cage.. when u r there then he should follow directions. Some dogs need that following to know when & where they can.

If I'm not mistaken there is a pill of some sorts you can feed your dog that'll prevent his urine from creating yellow spots on your grass.....talk to a vet or a pet store for more details, I'm not totally sure about specifics.

There is stuff you can get to put on your lawn to stop animals from going there. Walk him on a leash to the part of the yard you want him to go in until he learns that is his spot. Maybe put him on a run so h e can only go in a certain area.

He probably isn't going to pee in his pen- unless he poops there. A little water on the yellow spots will green it back up quick!

Dogs don't like to make a mess where they have to stay. That's why crate training helps house train a dog much faster than anything else. If he's stuck in a pen he won't want to pee there. I don't know how to get him to go in only one place, though ...

if he has achieved it as quickly because it has his fragrance on it which u ought to get out b4 he will end i'm specific it develop into virtually marking his territory yet now it smells like him so he figures that's ok. Use white vinegar to get the scent out and then attempt to seize him doing it and on the instant positioned him exterior and bypass away him out for no less than 10 minutes no count number what as his punishment(needless to say no longer no count number if it is so chilly exterior u could no longer stand it your self i might under no circumstances recommend cruelty) good success

when the dog pees on something or somewhere you dont want him to then rub his nose in it and take him to the spot where you want him to pee. He will get the point.
