Statistically, the vast majority of shoplifters are women.

Most women find shoplifting to be a rush. Even if the women have the money to buy it -- we all remember the wealthy actress Winona Ryder getting busted for her shoplifting stints.

Women -- be honest, have you ever shoplifted, or have you at least thought about it at one point in time?

And I am a man, but I did shoplift once in my life. But I was a teenager doing "teenage" things. It wasn't a "rush," it was just me wanting a football jersey and I didn't have the money.

Gaymalkin: If that question is that important to you, make a new topic. Stop avoiding the question.

And no, I have not "crashed" a car. Nor am I generally a speeder. Also, many women crash cars. Just ask Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

Apparently you haven't paid attention. Winona Ryder was far from "poor." She shoplifted for the rush.

I disagree that that vast majority of shoplifters are women I found one site that said

"There is no profile of a typical shoplifter. Men and women shoplift about equally as often. Approximately 25 percent of shoplifters are kids, 75 percent are adults."

That aside, I never shoplifted anything but when I was in high school I went shopping with a friend and when we got outside the store she showed me some candy she had put in her pockets... I never went shopping with her again.

I haven't shoplifted since I was a kid, but I do know that a great deal of elderly women shop lift, but this could be for economic reasons.
When I used to work in a department store (the juniors department), I remember shoplifters coming in pairs (male and female); they were the hardest to catch. The teenage girls were the easiest. They would go into the dressing room and stuff clothing into their shopping bags, etc. Of course, that was before all of the electronic surveillance that we have now.
What the rush is, I'm sorry, I don't do it so I can't explain it. With teenagers I think it is fun for them to get away with it.

I absolutely hate shopping!! Of course i don't like to spend my hard earned money, so I'm sure it has something to do with this.

I shoplifted once by accident. I picked a necklace up in a store when i was about 13. When i went to pay for my items i couldn't find it, riding home in the car i saw it got looped around the sleeve of my jacket. I was so devastated that i threw it away and never told anyone....until now!

i've got faith adult males decide for married women human beings when you consider that's an straight forward objective. All they should do is faux to be extra worrying, extra considerate, a listener, discover them perfect, and agree together with her lawsuits approximately her hubby. they're in like Flynn and somebody else helps her financially. as long as that is secret and that they do no longer stay mutually, the relationship wont proceed previous the Romeo and Juliet point. If it does, he can run and he or she cant kick up too lots fuss devoid of letting the cat out of the bag.

The small psychological differences between men and women makes women to find rush in buying, shoplifting, gossip or similar commonly known female issues, but that do not mean that every women thinks exactly the same.

The media only enforces more that ideas in women.

This can be broken down a bit more. The majority of juvenile shoplifters are male, but the majority of adult shoplifters are female. Perhaps this is revealing enough.

I shoplifted a few times when I was younger and I know that it was purely for the thrill. Young men take unnecessary risks like this so this probably explains the difference.

Adult women do shoplift more but I doubt it's by a lot (you'd have to check). The difference might be that, amongst the poor, women are more likely to have mouths to feed.

I've never shop-lifted and never even considered it - the fear of being caught would outweigh and last longer than any rush I got at the very beginning.

I wouldn't know since I have a JOB and morals. Luckily, I don't find the need to steal.

I have never shoplifted. Ever. I pay for what I want. If you can't afford it, go get a job and pay for it like everybody else.

Did that stat happen to mention how old those women were? Likely, they're a bunch of fifteen-year-old girls looking for kicks. All I've done is take a pen from a hotel lobby and never return it.
