They're not supposed to. Anyone that actively preaches and sells Buddhism has failed to understand its fundamental principles. It's not an ideology with a set of doctrines just a means of achieving enlightenment.

Buddhists don't preach or recruit others to join the religion- especially not door to door.
Monks are always open to any lay person to ask questions.

The Nicheren Shoshu (Buddhism, sort of) ppl can be pretty aggressive, but you have to find them first. They don't knock on doors. I had a friend who joined them and she was forever trying to get me to come chant with her. She was quite pushy and manipulative about it. So were others in the group I met through her.

actually no. the JWs are always out in ful force though! i would love to hear that they have to say. I am open to all religions (except christianity). I would love to hear their side of things. I hear Jainism is a great religion too, all about love and compassion, unlike christianity, which is all about killing people who dont agree with them. Disagree? Read the bible some time!!! Last time you stoned your child or sold your daughter to the slave trade??

No. I'd probably respond as I do to Mormons and the like. I typically say "I'll listen to you if you'll spare a moment to listen to me."

not at my door, but still preached
if they came to my door I'd probably answer it, listen, and close the door forgetting everything four minutes after. that's usually what happens with salesmen
