I don't care about Al Gore. I appreciate that he brought public attention to this crucial problem, but other than that he doesn't matter. He didn't do the studies or draw the conclusions, he merely presented them in a powerpoint presentation.
I care what the scientists and their data say. They say humans are the primary cause of the current global warming.

Al Gore has amassed information about global warming for almost the last 2 decades. He made it a personal mission to find what was and wasn't the truth; unfunded, by the way. He has practically single-handedly brought the world's attention to this matter and was brave enough to debunk the 'research' that was slanted by companies for capital gain.
You're darn right I support Al Gore! He's dedicated himself to traveling around baring the facts about global warming in an attempt to wake people up as we're at a pivitol point; do you expect him to do this on horse back???
People are so quick to point and call him a hypocrite. As my mother always said, when you point a finger at someone, you're pointing four more back at yourself.
I don't hear people putting down Bono for jetting around supporting the causes he believes in. Not to mention countless others.
Nor do I hear people praising the likes of Leo DiCaprio who drives a hybrid and refuses to take limos, even to award events.
People, please do some research before mouthing off about someone/something.
As for looney, the poster above, there is no prove that the earth is millions of years old; it's only theory. Climate charts for the last 500,000 years? We only started recording temperatures around 1850.....

No, I never have supported Al Gore, and I see even more reasons not to.
He has always since I first became aware of him played fast and loose with the facts, and presented always one-sided views.
I agree he is just like the religious TV Evangelist huckster. Preaches up a storm, but lives life the other way when behind closed doors. The scary thing to me is folks say that is OK, good, right? Where has our moral indignation of a hypocrite and a twister of truth wandered off to?
Why is it now OK to lie and tell half-truths to support what many feel is a good thing? A lie is a lie, even if for what might be a good cause. If it is a good cause, does it need lies and twisted truths to support it?
I just want to say at this point, I have seen the long-term charts going back 500,000 years, and they show a cyclic natural warming to levels above what the "consensus" shows now that is claiming will be all man-made. Nobody has yet told me how the other 4 100,000 year peaks shown came about without man!
Dissection of the claims made in the film show that Gore was in many cases either ignorant of what he said, or was deliberately lying to get us to believe him. And follow him in the Gospel of Man-made Global Warming.
I dunno about the money, but he has found a way to get attention back to him, like a spoiled child who acts up.
There are so many problems with the "consensus" "facts" and cures for "Global Warming", especially after the "Global Cooling" disaster was so narrowly averted by all the new hot air, that I have trouble finding solid facts in all the fancy the "consensus" has woven, especially that which leaves out things like the MWP and the LIA...the long range graphs show some similar peaks and dips, from unknown natural causes, and final large peaks before the rapid slide into a deep ice age.
MAYBE this is a natural event, and folks like Gore and the IPCC are merely using it to enhance their power and prestige, and maybe get back at the US for being prosperous under God?
And so far, I hear of a 13-foot predicted rise in the oceans...not gonna bury a whole lot of things, not even the Maldives will go under! But might make some nice beaches and maybe some nice fishing beds along present coastlines.
I think the predictions are for a lot of new exposed fertile land to grow crops on, and answer the need for food for the world...this is bad? With a higher CO2, plants will grow faster, bigger, stronger, and rapidly ease the global food crunch if we distribute properly.
We should prevent this?
But I did not see Gore mention the astronomer's observations of incoming asteroids in the next couple-3 decades? If one hits us, or even a very close miss, what happens to all the good things we have done, in preventing the gentle ocean rises and the opening of new croplands to feed the hungry?
What does the Consensus have to say on this? I have heard nothing but gloom and doom and shifts of position and differential treatment depending on where you live because of global cooling and then warming, and based on computer models that apparently cannot predict the MWP and the LIA given the known facts of before them.
They DID happen, you know.
But the Consensus, and Mr. Gore blowing his apocalyptic trumpet of doom if we don't follow him, has not mentioned the need to start to find out how to keep an asteroid from hitting the earth and disturbing all the carefully laid plans to run the world their way.
Nor have they come up with plans to this time keep nature from following its course of at least a half-million years in long ice ages followed by steep large temperature peaks and the swift slide back to ice.
Haven't heard his solution to avoid repeating the past there!! Nor that of the Consensus.
I am waiting, Mr. Gore. Stop the natural cycles of millions of years, and fend off the incoming asteroids...how does forcing me into bankruptcy to buy hybrid cars and solar panels accomplish these? And how does your level of living and the data smoothing and rigging of the Consensus contribute to the solution?

I feel that his efforts have already paid off in huge ways. Although Global Warming is not really a new topic, he brought the whole issue to the forefront of people's minds and got a whole lot more people thinking about the issue, as well as making a lot of changes. By doing that alone, I don't think he could manage to burn up as much gas in SUV's, energy on air-con, and airplane fuel to pollute as much as he's "saved" by making a change in this world. I support the efforts he is making and I don't feel that he's doing it all solely for financial reasons, although I wouldn't be surprised if that is part of the motivation.

To many Al Gore is the public face of global warming and climate change, he's effectively a messenger delivering someone elses science.
In the scheme of things Al Gore is unimportant, it's the science that counts and the implications for all of us of a warming planet.
He's served a very useful purpose in bringing the concept of climate change to the attention of a great many people but at the same time he's partially responsible for the politicising of the subject which has led to controversy.
So, do I support Al Gore - no. Do I suport what he stands for - yes.

For every one that says that it's OK for Al to be a hypocrite, you've made it THAT MUCH EASIER for every other politician and bureaucrat to do the exact same thing. The "ruling class" created by those who would be ruled.
So, let me get this straight: It's OK for people to lie, cheat, and steal as long as they tell you that they are working to make things better?
We saw how Huey Long's legacy played out in the aftermath of Katrina - but state and local government officials got off scott-free, ready to shaft the people again...

With regards to Al-Gore, he made his movie and brought the media's attention to his work as a way to get back at George Bush. But considering the intense work and research that he did, I have to say, we should all salute him for this effort. And supporting his efforts in bringing Global Warming to the light, does not mean supporting his political opinions or decisions,
to answer your question: No, I do not support him politically.

If you just watch the movie, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH,
you can see the facts. Al Gore exposes the myths and misconceptions about global warming.
I appreciate him and his bringing this to our attention.
