Hi ! I am 17 year old girl & I am doing Ramdan from almost past 5-6 years & don't find it difficult in any way. Even I do attend my school & tution & do pray Namaz in the tution. Infact I enjoyed it too much that I miss it & wait for next Ramdan. It is the only month when you realise the pain & hunger that a poor person faces while starving & we should be thankful to ALLAH that we only starve for just about a month.
It is nice to pay respect to other religion but don't get diverted from your own religion. We should be thankful that we are born in a Muslim house & follow such a religion where equality is maintain between a poor & a rich;a boy & a girl. and knows that what will happen on the" judgment day". So belive in "ALLAH" & "ISLAM".

Why exactly don't you pray?
I have never heard of anyone starve to death from Ramadan. You're fasting from sun up to sun down, some people do that just for their health, let alone for God!
I became a Muslim 4 years ago, I'm assuming you were born Muslim. If I can do it, so can you! (note: not using a sarcastic tone here)
djmantx: We have a solution for the problem of man sinning: God's forgiveness. We simply repent and He forgives. We dont require God to incarnate Himself and then die in order to do so. This idea comes from the Mithraic cults that were popular in the Roman Empire at the time of Jesus.

Salam
1) For christians people, praying is very important
2) If you love really Allah, Ramadan is not a pain. Only for your stomach but in your head you are stronger. Prayers can help you.
3) Christianism can give you an impression of liberty but are you sure to want choosing the facility only because "it's so hard for you"??
I'm a christian women convert to Islam and sometimes I think again like a Christian (I like very much Jesus as prophet, I like Christmas,...) but my religion is Islam and I do what Allah asked me.

The simple fact that many Christians don't fast or "tone down" such external religious practices, doesn't eliminate the fact that there are many strict, adhering religious nuts out there that fast like crazy and stay up all night in prayer.
You aren't mentally Christian. You're just lazy and you may have rationalized it by thinking that God doesn't require it of you. That maybe God's too big and vast and generous to really care what one simple person does.
Which is fine by me.
Your comment about possibly starving to death from not eating from Sunrise to Sunset is pretty melodramatic, though. Makes you seem really weak.
I think you ought to just abandon your label or maybe admit that you're really only "culturally muslim". It's obvious that you're not "afraid of sin", because you're doing it and then putting it up here for people to comment on. So, you're really not "God-fearing" and probably not Qur'an believing either (you might tell yourself that you are, but you really aren't- because you'd be praying and fasting). It's probably time to move on. Consider unitarian-universalism. It's a good option for you. It's like a halfway-house for agnostics.

Just try a little and keep doing it. The whole point of actions in Islam like daily prayer, fasting in Ramadan (you won't starve to death, but you will feel hungry) is that Allah subhanu wa ta'ala wants to reward you for them. The reward is amazing as well, there is a door in heaven that is made especially for people who fasted. There is lots of rewards there you just have to try a little, try doing a prayer every other day or one prayer a day.
Its a good sign that you are worried it shows that you are in a good state. If I can help you, please email me.

While the question was formed to insult Christians I will happily answer it anyway. Christ did pay the way for us and some do prefer to attempt to pay the way for themselves. The fact that you see that you are not capable is the first step in realizing your need for God. God is absolute righteousness and all men do sin. God is the creator fo everything and is all knowing and did know before creation that man would fall.
It was never God's plan to join man in man's sin. It was not God's plan to be indebted to his creation. It was God's plan before creation to bring his creation to his righteousness.
Now It is for you to decide how God would do such a thing.
The only answer is the answer Christ gave you through the atonement. Did an all knowing God know man would sin? Everyone should agree the answer is yes.
Is God righteous? Everyone should agree he is.
Can God overlook sin and remain righteous?
Is this righteous? Everyone should agree God can not simply overlook sin.
Can a man's good works cover his bad?
Hmm.. How can this be..If I can do more good than bad..then the bad would cease to exist? No If I kill a man can I bring him back by saving another? No the bad I did still would exist no matter how much good I do and a righteous God can not nor would he overlook my sin.
So what plan did God have before hand to save my sinful self? Moses called it the tree of life. Abrham said God would [provide himself a lamb. Isaiah said the Messiah would be almb of God who would atone for sin...John the Baptist said Behold the lamb of God...Jesus said I am the way and the truth and the life and I and the Father are one and no one comes to the Father but through the Son. God made a way for us by coming to the world as a man and overcoming temptation remaining perfect and overcoming sin and death for those who accept the atonement.

Rainbow, are you telling me that your impression of Christians is that we do not observe our customs and Holy Days?
Second, I know MANY Muslims, and they do not starve during Ramadan. It's Sunup to Sundown for a month! You'll live. You should be practing the religion of your choice of course, but you need to look to yourself.
The fact that you ask for advice shows you are not acting bad at all. Your consience is speaking! Follow it.

If your religious beliefs don't fit with your life and experiences and you are verring towards Christianity, then do some research on Christianity, speak to people, search the web. If you feel this way of life would suit your philosophy, then so be it.

Salaah and fasting are 2 pillars of Islam. A Muslim MUST follow the pillars of Islam.
