We are going to make jewelry. We love to play cards. Uno and Skipbo are our favorites. We also plan to make candles. I take my girls to the library for books and movies, some times the library has things for the kids to do. See if there are any self defense classes for free. Our police department offer them for free. Last summer I traced a dragon picture onto a plastic sheet, it was a shrinky dink plastic sheet, but you could use regular. I colored it in and I put it up on my window like a picture of stained glass. It looked really cool. Plus I give them chores to do. That keeps them busy and teaches them that life is not all fun and games. Good Luck

There are many things they can do. Painting, drawing, makeing things. Here are afew ideas.
Painting:
Have on hand, finger paint, water colors, crayons and plain white rolls of shelf paper. Have the roll open and let the kids sit at different places by the paper and have them paing a place they would like to visit and this way they can work togeather on a wall mural.
Finger paint, do the same with the roll of paper for a mural. Even water colors.
The can make candle holders for grandmother or aunt. You need aluminum foil, string, glue, paint and several empty food cans cleaned good and dried.
Start with the biggest or the widest, then glue on top of it bottom side down the next can that is a little smaller and then a nother smaller can. Glue on the cans the string in forms of a flower or any design, then roll the set in aluminum foil closing the ends. Make sure the top can open part is end up. Wrap the foil and pressing it on the cans so that the design of the string is marked on the foil, then when wrapped, paint in your favorite color. Then add the candle.
For your daughter, shoe boxes placed right can make a doll house and match boxes covered in different colors of scraps of cloth can make nice furniture.
For the boys, an empty plastic half gallon milk bottle, sand, a 1/4 inch width spiral tube, electric wire, plug and sockett, a lamp can be made and decorated.
Now if you want, they can get ideas and let them paint their rooms and decorate them in the style they like of course under your supervision.

you know what are great wood bi-planes and other model air crafts and cars. You can buy them at hobby stores or arts and crafts stores. My brother made an airplane the other day. Its really awesome. They are for people like ages 9-99 and it gives them a sense of accomplishment!

oh or they can do mosaic! that is a really fun way to pass the time

finger painting?!? lol! I'm 12 right now. finger painting would be fun if I was 3 or 4 or maybe 5. let them have some friends over, get them a movie like 3 or 4 movies. take them swimming at a local pool with some of their friends. do they do any sports? soccer, tennis, swimming, baseball, football. if not, try to get them all a sport they like. I'm so sorry if this didn't help!

Buy some paints.......everyone likes painting or get some balsa wood and have them make structures and have them compete against each other to see who's structure can hold the most weight? All else fails take them to the book store and each pick out a craft book then go thru it and let them decide the projects that they would like to do....oh and when I was younger i loved to put together model cars

You could have a few friends come over for your daughter one night a get them some candy or pizza, and a week or two later you could do the same with your son. My brother is around that age and he had a poker party with pop and chips and had them spend the night , but if you son's not into poker you could just have some friends come over. With your daughter you could take her friends swimming, unless you're too busy to take them there maybe you could just rent a movie or something.

Honeslty, not knowing your children makes answering this question sort of difficult. You may want to try asking them. Kids that age mostly want to hang out with their friends. Teenagera usually aren't that into "crafts".

by that age, crafts are probably not their thing. you could try making nice beaded jewelery for the girl and model rockets for the boy, but it might get even more boring. to see some craft ideas, go to familyfun.com.

Gardening. Grow some beans, a tomato plant, etc. It won't take up too much time, but it's fun to get dirty.
