Banks have to keep information for 5-7 years. They WILL NOT view the tape with you or for you especially if they have reimbursed the money. They will investigate on their part and most likely be out of the money that was refunded to you.

The camera tape will not be viewed unless the police are involved (and trust me unless they stole thousands they will not be involved) so if it's at an ATM it was probably a couple hundred or less which is just change for a bank, or unless the bank feels it is necessary to complete there investigation

The bank won't even release the film without a police subpoena. Please file a police report and review your bank statement every month on line or in hand. Since that is a security question, we were never told how long the ATM film was retained by Brinks.

It varies by ATM operator, but don't be surprised if they won't talk to you about it. Once they give you back your money, it isn't your problem any more; it becomes part of a law enforcement investigation.
