It's becoming a "god of the gaps" deity.
As science opens up a natural understanding of the universe, gods are shrinking to whatever dark corners are left unknown.
In ancient times, people thought god controlled the weather, how much food you harvested, if you survived the black plague, who ruled your government, and how many children survived to adulthood.
Now god is an invisible man who creates the universe but exists outside of time and space, and provides no evidence that he exists, telling humans to go on "faith" alone.
I suspect there will always be people who believe in god, both for emotional reasons but also because there are things that humans don't understand.
But that doesn't prove any concept real. I remain indifferent to the god issue until evidence shows otherwise. But I stay opposed to religious fundamentalism, which tends to be oppressive and against separation of church/state.

Not at all. It is becoming more and more questioned, talked about, and argued over. But its not ridiculous. I think many people question the existence of God, but eventually realise that there are few ideas that make sense as to how we got here, and who is really in control of the universe.

Every morning, God gives you the chance to wake up and breath and live one more day of your life. Every day, God blesses you with the food that you eat, your job, your family and friends. Every single beat of you heart is thanks to God.
What is ridiculous really is the concept of life without God. What does your life amount to? You dont believe in God, fine. What do you believe in? That you have no soul and there is no God? So why are you here on Earth? Just to have fun?
Yet you were created by God and for God.
''For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. ''
Colossians 1:16-17
And although He may seem ridiculous to you, He loves you so much that he sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you so that your sins would be forgiven. In fact, He loves you so much that every day, He gives you one more chance to accept his love and peace and commit your life to him.
So no, God is not ridiculous.

With every extremist carrying their opinions on God, however they want to express it, yes. The concept of God gets more ridiculous with each distortion.

I think it has sort of plateaued out on the ridiculous level and run out of steam basically.
Having made up so many rushed excuses that weren't well thought through it has made itself look silly enough I would think.
