What was the symbolism of him getting baptized? Also why did John The Baptist not want to baptize Jesus?

It was so that Jesus could legally be a priest, baptized by another priest...John. Jesus then became the first of a new royal priesthood.

John was a prophet and He could see his generations sin. He wanted them to repent desperately. When he saw Jesus he saw a man with no sin, and John knew Him to be the Messiah. John wanted the baptism that Jesus would give those who follow Him, the Holy Spirit. John didn't NOT want to baptize Jesus, He just couldn't believe that he GOT to do it.

Jesus was the human example to men and for men. John didn't baptize to wash away sins back then, but UNTO repentance..., and Jesus fulfilled EVERY ordinance of THE LAW.
Then, John the baptizer, Jesus' cousin, was one of the few people on earth at that time who truly KNEW that Jesus was the "lamb of God"; the prophetically promised Messiah and Christ, so therefore he didn't say he didn't "want to", he was moved with humility and said "no-no" that he (John) needed to be baptized by Jesus. It was just the awesomeness of the situation. Read the entire thing in Matthew 3: 13- 17. Also, when a Jewish man came of age to be his own person around age 30, he was confirmed by the High Priest. John the baptizer was the TRUE high priest of God by birth from his father, not the one chosen by the religious hierarchy, and He did all Father God told him to do. Jesus did the 'will of God' no matter what the 'system' thought about it. God knew, John's parents knew and Jesus' Mother knew the real deal. God follows truth of His own plan, not religious throught, doctrine or traditions.

Being Baptized is largely symbolic in nature. However, it is an outward expression of Jesus' obedience to His Father in Heaven. Being baptized does not equate to salvation, but it is a furtherance of your obedience and comittment to God.

As for John the Baptist, he did not want to baptize Jesus, because he felt he was unworthy, knowing that Jesus was the Son of God.

Being baptized is truly a new beginning, a new chapter in a persons life. Its the comittment that is unique.

Hope this helped. God bless

By being baptized He was obeying His Father and setting an example that is still practiced today.
Im not sure about John the Baptist but i believe he didnt think he was good enough to baptize Jesus (JtB knew jesus was the Messiah). He knew he was unworthy of baptizing the Son of God.
God bless

Jesus asks John to baptize him because he has special work from his Heavenly Father Jehovah God to do. So to show that he has now come to do his Father's will, Jesus asks John to baptize him.

To register his name on the membership records of the LDS Church, because He will be judged out of the books, and if His name weren't on the angels' books in heaven, He couldn't inherit Celestial glory and worlds without end.

Ok, now for a serious answer: He gave the example to his followers and was clothed in the mission His Father had sent Him to accomplish.

The Baptist didn't feel worthy to baptize the person who would save him from his sins. That is why he felt it should be Christ baptizing him.

He submitted to the will of the Father in doing so. Setting an example for us and well as providing a prophetic picture of His mission on earth. John was a prophet himself and could see that Jesus was pure with no need for repentance. That Jesus made his life look corrupt by comparison.. Jim

From what I understand it was an act of obidience, doing what his father has asked. It was probably also a way to set an example. I'm not sure on the JtB thing, never really looked into that.

Read the 31st chapter of the Second Book of Nephi.

"Know ye not that he [Jesus] was holy? But notwithstanding he being holy, he showeth unto the children of men that, according to the flesh he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his commandments."

Many scholars agree that John the Baptist and the various disciples belonged to the Essene sect and that John and particular others have been contributors of the monastic sect that dwelt interior the caves at Qmram. The Gospel of Luke places emphasis on John the Baptist no longer stumbled on someplace else interior the recent testomony. on the Apostle Paul's 2d missionary holiday he had to detour from his planned itinerary to end a sect worshiping John the Baptist from inflicting disruption interior the Christian Church already widespread. John the Baptist might have been greater influential interior the days whilst Jesus advance into alive than all of us understand on the instant, and a few speculate that Jesus might have initially been a disciple of John the Baptist. Who can say? in spite of the undeniable fact that, in fact Baptism is seen of Christian foundation and the bathings presented to Judaism via the Essenes advance right into a daily experience, no longer a as quickly as in an entire life important experience. Baptism set the Christian different than for the Jew, in simple terms as circumcision set the Jew different than for the pagan worldwide. Jesus advance right into a Jew, genuinely. So advance into John the Baptist, all the disciples of Jesus, the Apostle Paul and each author of each e book in the two the previous and New testomony---all Jews, each physique. Even Jesus reported this, "I extremely have come to collect the lost sheep of the Tribes of Israel."
