Mary was a very young jewish girl,, unwed.. Hell if I was her I'd a said the same thing to prevent from being stoned.. And there was other gods at that time period,, who she just might of laid with,, and the hole thing is a hoax. Especially, during this time frame The jews were desperate for this immaculant conception to validate their religion. Why, I guess, is it so important that this man have a virgin mother,, and never to have been married,, the validation for this religion. My god does it change the things he did? So if he was married and had sex with his wife, i guess that means he couldn't walk on water.

I agree if Mary wasn't a virgin and Jesus went on to marry that doesn't change the message he came to spread to the world.I think the early church took alot of liberties with Jesus message.Putting in the bible what they wanted and keeping out what they didn't like.

It has been "Accepted" that Mary was a virgin and remained a virgin until very recently, even Calvin and Luther (Protestant reformers) did not dis-agree with the perpetual virginity of Mary.

Jesus being married is a VERY new heresy, based on a fictional book and popular fictional movie, when this movie came out the makers were adamant that people would not be silly enough to believe in fiction, well, they were wrong.

The fact is that Jesus could have been married, it would not have shaken our faith, but the fact is that he was not married.

We do not need this to be fact to validate our Religion it just is fact.

Do some study of the New testament, read the Catechism of the Catholic Church, it won't take any longer than reading the fiction you have so easily embraced.

Good Luck!

Well, people would say that is a matter of faith. If you choose not to believe in immaculate conception. That of coarse is your choice. That is one of the reasons divine spirit gave us free will. If one believes there is a god or multiple gods. Then one would ponder why you would not believe those powerful forces/beings could not impregnate a woman. I would say as far as the Jews wanting immaculate conception. I disagree with that premise. Most Jews did not believe it in the first place. That is why people of the Jewish faith believe Jesus to be a prophet and not the son of God. Remember, they say she was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus. Not afterwards! As far as Jesus being married. I feel that has more to do will belonging to something larger then ones self. The fact Jesus had a mission or role to fill or play to forgive all believers of their sins. Really did not have time to marry and start a family. Try to set apart the new christian religion. From its pagan counterparts. Where the gods would take mortal wives. To most Christians, Jesus was the son of god, god and the holy spirit. Therefore if Jesus took a wife he would be no different then the pagan religions he was trying to distance the new christian religion from. As far as the rest. Its a matter of faith. Either you have it or you do not. These are things larger then ourselves. That have no simple explanations. Or not one that will at least change your mind.
Peace!!! Love!!!

Ya know....

At the end of the day does it REALLY matter if Jesus was married? (remember, our belief is that he came to experience life as a human, so if he was married, what is the big tadoo?) Why would that change his divinity?)

If you believe in God, why would it be impossible for a Virgin to concieve a child? At a certain point either you believe or you don't. Either he walked on water or he didn't, either he rose from the dead or he didn't. It's really simple.

Peace

I think I'm following you...but to clear up a few issues. Jews weren't desperate for an "immaculate conception." Jews were, and still are, awaiting the arrival of a Messiah. Also, Jews aren't obsessive over the Messiah having a "virgin" birth. These are all Christian influences. The early Christian church had a very unhealthy view on sex in general - where do you think the practice of celibate monks and priests comes from? Sex was "dirty." GASP! at the thought of Jesus having been born out of wedlock! Or worse...been married!

however an Atheist, I even have studied religions for some years. and that i haven't heard of 'massive Daddy Sky Lord God' in the previous. perhaps you reside in some twisted myth of your individual advent. perhaps you even think of you're sensible, or witty. Epic Fail

Actually, the truth of the matter is extremely important. If it's not true, then Jesus was a liar.

Look, anyone who claims to be the Son of God is insane,...
...,unless of course, it's really true.

So, either Jesus was the Son of God, or he was insane. And if Jesus WAS the son of God, why would he have to lie about his birth? I mean, the man could walk on water!

He could have walked on water. But his wife would have been nagging him about tracking mud in the house. It's simpler without the wife idea.

And Mary has to be a Virgin. Every religion since the beginning of time sacrifces virgins to their gods. Gods, historically, don't want used goods.

Her being a virgin was VERY important....

If God visited this planet by natural relations (intercourse).....then he wouldn't be 100% God & 100% human as Jesus Christ was.

As far as Jesus being married.....never happened.
The Savior of the world did not need a wife......and never had one according to Scripture.

I accept with out doubt what the Bible says. If you can not accept this fact, no amount of convincing by anyone I think will ever convince you of this divine truth.
