Could it just be human beings refuse to let go of the past? The violence today continues on the heals of centuries of mis-deeds and misplaced loyalties from centuries ago.

prophets come regularly to warn people of what they are doing.
prophets are murdered regularly for their words, and suffer great persecution.
usually when prophets are ignored their warning become true, regardless of conditions beforehand.
wars and natural disasters cannot be controlled. Only god can control, and those who serve in his name.
