I have full top and bottom dentures that I just got 3 weeks ago. My dentist says that I have bone for the implants and we plan to start that in 4 months. What I want to understand though is how to I get the implants (teeth) that stay in all the time versus still having to remove nightly? How many implants would it take on the top and bottom to have a full mouth of teeth that stay in all the time?

HELLO STEPHANIE,
WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE TO ME IS THAT THE DENTIST PLANS ON MAKING YOU IMPLANT-RETAINED DENTURES.
IN THIS THE IMPLANTS ARE PUT INTO THE BONE AND SPECIAL INSERTS ARE MADE FOR HOLDING ON TO THE DENTURES.
THE DENTURES STILL NEED TO BE REMOVED NIGHTLY WHILE SLEEPING TO KEEP THE BACTERIA FROM GROWING ON THEM. OR, THE DENTIST MAY WANT TO DO IMPLANT BRIDGEWORK. HERE THE BRIDGES ARE NEVER REMOVED FROM YOUR MOUTH, BUT LIKE REAL TEETH HAVE TO BE MAINTAINED WITH BRUSHING AND SPECIAL FLOSSING. YOU CAN ALSO USE A WATERPIK IRRIGATOR INSTEAD OF FLOSSING BECAUSE OF THE EASE OF USE.
AS FAR AS HOW MANY IMPLANTS THERE WILL BE....?
THIS DEPENDS ON YOUR DENTIST.
YOU'LL LOVE THE IMPLANTS AS OPPOSED TO THE TRADITIONAL DENTURES. GOOD LUCK!

Everyone is born with 32 teeth in total and some people remove 4 teeth which is are the wisdom teeth. I think you could get away with only 20 to 24 Implants in total. They working on way to regrow your adult teeth in England U.K. and they estimate that they will complete the process by 2009. I think that it looks promising and some random adults have all there adult teeth removed because they naturally regrow all there teeth again.

nicely for some people specific, I surely have some cousins like that. yet I surely have cousins and acquaintances who's tooth have not moved. Having a retainer afterwards will help. I surely have braces and that i will have a persist with up retainer for 2 years to guarantee they gained't circulate.
