My cousin is a meth addict. He was doing well for a while and came to stay with me. He grew up around here and reconnected with many old friends and family. Now he has fallen off the wagon and has stolen/scammed/etc several people. He has also broken into homes and cars and come close to physical violence. I want to warn people to beware of his behavior but dont know which townhouse belongs to specific elderly people. I don't have anyway of contacting them and was thinking of putting fliers on the cars in that complex. I don't want anyone to get hurt including my cousin. If he keeps up his current habits he is going to. Is it legal to post such a thing? Do I put his whole name? Do I use a picture- he has been known to use his brothers name as an alias. What the heck would I write?

It is not slander when it is documented fact. The cops have been called. He was in rehab - that's why he was doing well. Aiding and abetting?? How so? I am trying to stop him!!

You've already notified the Police. Why don't you just ask him to leave before the situation escalates.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it if you can handle the family shame. The only issue I'd be concerned with would be where you post the fliers. There are city ordinances against posting fliers under certain conditions. Check with the local police or municipal guide for further clarification.

Your cousin could easily sue you for slander. Can you prove this stuff about your cousin? If not, then you cannot prove you were not slandering him. Even if you can prove it, it can still be considered slander. If you can prove it, then why bother with the flyers, call the cops.
What you are planning will probably get you into trouble even if your intentions are good.

I see no reason why you could not do this with his picture and full name. Just do you want to do this to a relative. I have seen it done in neighborhoods for less.

I don't know if it is legal, but it is a good idea. Also, you need to tell him to seek help or go away. You do not need this.
