Replace the hooks! They are weakened now. If you are fishing in salt, use stainless hooks and rinse them in fresh water and air dry before storage.

Yes. I've seen 2 cases. One was a lure that was hung up, no moss or anything growing on it, but the hooks were almost rusted gone. Another, more important, I've caught a fish that had another line in its mouth. I looked at it, pulled on the line, and the hook broke off at the bend, and was rusted. So yes, fish hooks will rust fast. Want to test it, get a bucket or even an empty coffee can and put a basic hook in it and let it sit. Bet it would have rusted in a couple weeks.

You would probably be better off just going and buying some new ones. They're quiet easy to replace. But I have used a "wetrock" before on sharping my 4/0 Bass hooks and my trebble hooks. It knocks some of the rust off, but not all of it.

I use a knife sharpening stone. I just rub off the rust marks and sharpen my hooks at the same time. Then I wash the hook with water.

Rusted is Busted! Do as others have said and replace them if you are going to use that lure.

well with fish hooks its diffucult because its been in salt water than just sat there. am i correct? well if thats the case theres no way to get rid of the rust.
next time as soon as your done with the hook wash it of with the soap you wash dogs in trust me it works....i tried it
it doesnt matter wat kind of shampoo it is
