I'm stating my question differently-many didn't understand that when I said people were forced to come here illegally-I meant circumstances forced them to, their children starving homelessnes, no jobs, even elementary ed must be paid for, no oppurtunities and no hope. They can not come here legally. It takes decades and thousands of dollars to even have a chance. They ride on train tops, cross deserts, dangerous rivers, packed in semis, often raped, robbed etc, and sometimes try dzn's of times before they are successful. Once here they work cheaply which lowers our costs for products, pay taxes everytime they purchase. If legalized would pay more taxes, be tracible with SS numbers, learn english as requirement for citizenship, be deported if broke law, increase tax base we need to support aging population, law enforcement, courts, jails, wouldn't be out money to deal with them as illegals. Most aren't gang members, drug runners, welfare bums. Break the law to feed/house child-I would!

The whole economies of some areas depend on them. Labor laws would prevent them from being exploited if they were legal. There should be limits allowable for welfare use for everyone regardless of nationality, moochers and crooks are present in every race, but most people aren't that way.

The world is full of millions of people with no opportunities and no hope. Are we to be responsible for them all?

When and where do you draw the line?

I do agree that many Illegal immigrants pay taxes on welfare, medicaid, and income. But they are doing it will stolen Social Security numbers and stolen identification. It is still illegal, and it is still wrong. I was always brought up to believe that there is no excuse for breaking the law. Even if you didn't know it was illegal, it is still wrong. These people know it is illegal. Not to mention the growing problem of undocumented citizens with no drivers licenses, no insurance, and no problem with getting behind the wheel drunk and killing someone.

I don't know about where you live, but this is happening way too often. Now this girls family has no recourse since this guy is probably going to be slapped on the wrist and dropped over the fence, just to crawl back under it again.

I have no problem with people coming to this country to obtain a better life. But they need to realize that the reason it is so hard and takes so long to become a citizen here is because we are being overrun with immigrants. Mexico, Haiti, Cuba, South Africa, China, The middle east.
We can't fit everyone into our country.

In our country if there is something we don't like, WE change it. We don't run off to Canada. When the blacks were tired of being discriminated against. They marched, They made noise, THey made a change. When women wanted equal pay and the right to vote, They marched, They protested, They made a change. If you don't like what's going on where you live. Change it. Don't come hide here.

In 2005 Lou Dobbs was saying 7 to 10 Million illegal aliens, now he is saying 12 to 20 Million. if we can support & he work hard to stop the Congress from looking at this matter today, he can repeat the same story in 2009 with little changes i.e.- 20 to 30 Million (or 30 -40 )

By that time they can bring all their distant cousins and their families; most probably Congress will come up with a real AMNESTY plan similar to 1986 instead of this penalties and long waiting period and complex probation system and all.

All the illegal aliens need to thank the conservatives for that ( because many of us do not really know the term 'Conservatism' in its real meaning ).

Stop blurring LEGAL and ILLEGAL! There is a huge difference.

No one is forced to do anything! You are just making excuses for 20+ million people that don't care about the NEGATIVE effect they have on America. There are NO positive benefits for the illegals being here!

If they are in a bad situation, they have to fix it. Breaking laws and sponging off the American taxpayers is wrong and unfair!

Your "logic" is flawed and wrong. For example, you claim:
1) "If legalized would pay more taxes" - WRONG! Their income is so low and their exemptions are high (lots of kids) their tax liability would be minimal. Plus they would probably qualify for tax credits (AKA free money from the taxpayer).

2) "be tracible with SS numbers" - huh? big deal! That means nothing?

3) "learn english as requirement for citizenship" - it would be nice but I doubt that will happen. Besides, not all the illegals that will become legal residents will apply for citizenship, so won't change anything.

This also include the pro-amnesty crowds claim that we will get fines from all the illegals. Total lie! The only ones that pay a fine are those that apply for citizenship. I highly doubt that this is important to them. They just want to be here. Why pay anything when they get to stay for free?

4) "be deported if broke law" - that's the current law and it doesn't happen now so how will this all of a sudden start happening?

5) "increase tax base we need to support aging population" See #1. Since their income is so low, the SS & MC is minimal. It is estimated that taxpayers will have to pay $2.5 TRILLION for the illegals retirement and MC. That doesn't include anything for American citizens.

6) "law enforcement, courts, jails, wouldn't be out money to deal with them as illegals. Most aren't gang members, drug runners, welfare bums." - that's rediculous! The gang members, drug dealers, sex offenders, pedophiles will still be here. The only difference is that they will be here legally. The fact that they will still be doing crimes doesn't change. It is estimated that over 25% of our prison population are illegals that have committed a crime. This won't change. They will still be criminals. The only difference is that they are legal criminals!

7) "Break the law to feed/house child" - so we are suppose to REWARD 20+ million criminals that have broken our laws? This is unfair and wrong!

Sorry, but no matter how you slice it, AMNESTY IS WRONG, EXPENSIVE FOR TAXPAYERS, UNFAIR, WON'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, CREATES A BIGGER FINANCIAL HARDSHIP ON TAXPAYERS, GIVES LEGAL STATUS TO PEOPLE THAT SHOULDN'T BE HERE AND MAKES A BIGGER INSENTIVE FOR BILLIONS MORE TO COME!

I hate to tell the people coming here illegally, but there are more of them than there are drug dealers, unethical politicians and law enforcement individuals.

You think the US just happened one day? A lot of blood was shed to make it what it is today. That same blood was shed for those government programs, abilities to make money and live a bit of a better lifestyle.

If the people from "S. America" get their sh!t together, they could rise up and "fix" what is wrong with their country. It will not happen overnight, and some of them will lose their lives. But I am willing to bet once they got started, there would be a few countries willing to aid them in their "fight".

Until then, I don't think it is right to come into this country illegally, and that is that. I don't believe that someone should benefit illegally for something that my family members fought and died for. They died for their countrymen and women, and the laws of this nation - not for people that choose to break those laws to "live a better life".

And if your argument is that one can break a law and it is fine, just so long as they are doing it to feed their family and children? Well, our prisons are full of people that did that very same thing - drug dealers, car thieves, burglars, muggers, prostitutes, robbers, etc. So your stance is that we should allow them to go free? Because that is what you are saying by stating that. You can't claim that for one "race" or "nationality" and not everyone in this nation. . .

Your talking about the Amnesty bill? Allowing the illegal immigrants that are here, stay here? If you are, the reason why many ppl are against it is plan and simple, they are afraid of hard work. The illegals are now doing the jobs that many American men and women do not want to do for less than minimum wage. These same men and women wouldn't even do them for minimum wage or above. So if they are allowed to become citizens ( the ones that are already here) then the Americans worry that their own lack of work ethic would be realized and the children of these hard working strong work ethic ppl will effect the majority in the years to come. Basically that instead of being a lazy country with lax work ethics would would move toward a country that actually worked for a living, even doing things that aren't as desirable.

Not opposed to immigration.
Opposed to Illegal Immigration. We have laws, and those laws should be enforced. yes many years ago, there were people who came here and were undocumented, but then those many years ago, there were not immigration laws like we have now.

I am sorry if it costs thousands of dollars to obtain visa's to immigrate here. Thats just the way it is. Those people who choose to ride on train tops, cross deserts, rivers and such, made that decision. Nobody is forcing those people out of their homes and towns. Their country is not being ripped apart by war, famine or religious persecution. They have no right to cross into our country.
No IMMIGRATION REFORM.

SECURE THE BORDERS !!!!!

I find it amusing how people cry "racism" because American citizens don't want their hard earned money handed out to illegal aliens. Anyway, to your statement, there are American citizens who are poor and work hard to feed their families too. And you mentioned the problem of "no jobs", which I find funny because the thousands of illegal immigrants that flock to this country because they have "no jobs" just make less jobs for Americans.

This bleeding heart crap makes me sick! Who put us in charge of saving the world from themselves? These good hard working people should work at making their own country's better. If the millions here were in Mexico's capitol demanding reform maybe their lot in life would be better! Granted Mexico's poverty and corruption are legendary but a real popular uprising could turn them around! If they like our country enough to jump the border why don't they use the same effort in their own country to make it better.
