If you have a V6 then you have one exhaust pipe. Goto a muffler shop and gets duals put on it with Flowmaster or something like it style mufflers and it will sound real good. It will also cost you $300-400 too. You could replace the single muffler you have with a Flowmaster or similiar and that will make it louder but everyone still knows you have V6 though but it probably would be only $100-150 for that.

You dont have to go and do a dual job on your car just to get a louder sound. There are several companies out there that make performance mufflers i.e Flowmasters 40 series. I did give you the site to Flowmaster (i wouldnt recommend going with a Flow) along with the sites to other manufactures of performance exhaust. Many of which make Knock offs of the 40 series which are exactly like it. (Flowmaster no longer holds the patent to that design) . my pick for a mustang is the magna flow they are cheaper than the flow and their sound is more mellow, but still very aggreassive. My personal favorite for ANY vehicle is the Turbine by Aero. Hope this helps!

I need to know what size motor. Is it a V6 or V8. It sounds like you have a V6 because you said something about dual mufflers. The V8's allready have dual exhaust. But that doesnt mean you cant make it sound really nice. If you got a V6 its not gonna sound that great. If you have a V8 you can make it sound really good just by replacing your mufflers with some flowmasters.

remove muffers... buy exhaust pipe, clamp in place.
maybe 20 bucks
some of you missed the "aren't too costly" part. a flowmaster 40 is at least 80 bucks just for the muffler.

The cheapest way is to replace the muffler with a low restriction exhaust. Look online for different suppliers like flowmaster, borla, etc.

While completely removing the mufflers will make your car LOUDER, it will also likely be illegal to drive in many areas. Start small - try gettting a long 3/16" drill bit (long enough to reach inside the tailpipe to the muffler) and drill a small hole in the interior. This should reduce some backpressure and make the car a bit louder.

I'd say straight pipe... A lot of towns are cracking down on noise polution... I'd check first to see what's legal.
