Don't let the water run while you're brushing your teeth;
REuse the styrofoam cup you get when you buy a soda from the convenience store. Simply wash it out and refill it ten, twelve, twenty times.
REduce the amount of non-biodegradable items you buy or use;
REcycle everything that's not easily biodegradable: paper; used cooking oil; computer parts; plastics; magazines; old books; telephone directories; copying paper; asphalt; tin; steel; aluminum cans; glass; cardboard; ink cartridges; newsprint; wood, etc., etc. It's far better than burying it all in a landfill! Find a nearby recycling center and take all your stuff there;
Switch to the new more energy-efficient lightbulbs;
Turn your thermostat down a few degrees in winter, and up a few degrees in summer;
Instead of turning on the air conditioner, use ceiling fans or window fans;
Use less gasoline by driving less, making fewer "quick trips", using mass transit if possible, carpooling, or buying a more fuel-efficient vehicle;
Invest in energy-efficient windows or other home products;
Consider solar energy panels for your house;
Instead of driving to the store, work, or school, ride a bike or a moped, or WALK;
Don't accept 'paper' or 'plastic' bags at the grocery store. Instead, take your own re-usable canvas shopping bags;
Become more involved in trying to preserve and protect the delicate ecological balance between all humans, plants and animals necessary for our survival on this good Earth;
Don't write on just one side of the sheet of paper. Use both sides, then - when you're finished with the paper, recycle;
Compost;
Learn how inter-dependent we are on all things on Earth: we really DO need the whales, elephants, insects, frogs, snakes, polar bears, poisonous plants, tigers, and spiders;
Read about how we've destroyed our rain forests, oceans, mangrove forests, lakes, rivers, air, streams, wetlands, and other pristine regions of the Earth - then commit to doing whatever you can to prevent further destruction (National Geographic magazine is a great source of information);
Turn your water heater's temperature down a notch;
Only use your dishwasher when it's completely full;
When you're not using appliances such as your computer, television set or radio, turn them off;
Stop buying so much of that plastic trinket junk available at WalMart for "everyday- low prices" just because it's "on sale". It takes a lot of petroleum to manufacture that crap;
Buy only recycled paper, cardboard, or other materials.
Just a few suggestions. Thanks for helping to save the Earth! Your great-grandchildren will appreciate your effort. -RKO- 06/20/07

Plant some trees!
My answer is SO much easier (simpler) than the report above written by a tree hugger! Planting a tree is the BEST thing that you can do! Give that person a few more trees that he/she can hug! Jeez! Some people think being a Christian is tough! Look at all those rules! Wow!
You don't have to monkey with the garbage either! *laughter* Since when is rifling through your garbage simple? Perhaps it is when you DON'T wash your hands afterwards! *laughter* Too many rules to practice being a tree hugger! Forget the rules. Don't be disappointed when we learn in a year or two that the "recycled" refuse goes to the dump too!

the actuality which you're working out of money is a superb commencing factor: consume much less stuff. -the fewer you purchase, the fewer stuff had to bypass into it. -the fewer you throw away, the fewer environmental rigidity you create via waste disposal. purchase used stuff. purchase nutrients from farmer's markets- non commercial nutrients that hasn't travelled halfway worldwide huge would be greater value-effective, and is oftentimes fit, tastier and greater advantageous for the ecosystem (your widespread American meal is figuratively soaked with diesel gas) Use much less capability, much less gas, much less disposable stuff. shop funds, shop the planet.

Don't settle for simple solutions. Go for the brass ring, affecting real change and managing the planet's resources in a sustainable manner.
That's simple enough, isn't it?
