The lump isn't soft, and it doesn't move. It's been there since we got him. It's the size of a small bouncy ball. We're making an appointment with our vet, but I am nervous and was wondering if anyone else has any ideas what it could be, or if anyone else has been in this situation before. Any information is appreciated.

It's probably an outie bellybutton,,,the way the mother chewed the umbilical sac off could have made it outward...

Sounds like an umbilical hernia. When the mom chewed off the cord, she pulled a little too aggressively, causing a tiny tear in the abdominal wall, so a small bubble of the abdomenl pokes out. Not a horrible thing, so relax. Your vet can handle this well.

It may be a small hernia, which is common for some breeds of dogs. You are doing the right thing taking the pup into the vet. Keep us posted!! and good luck!!

Sounds like it could be a hernia. The vet is definitely the best idea. I'm sure if he's had it all along that it's nothing too serious.

It's an umbilical hernia and will most likely need surgery to repair it.

It's sounds like a herniated bellybutton. If you are having him neutered, the vet can remove it at that time. If that's what it is you don't have to worry. All the best:^)

it is an umbilical hernia. Not usually a big deal. Have it repaired when you get him neutered. You're getting him neutered right?

People have "innies" and "outies." Maybe dogs have also.
