what is something unique that can be exchanged during the ceremony?

I'll be getting married within 2 weeks and we don't have the money to purchase traditional wedding rings. What is something else that we can exchange that's unique?

As a professional I advise this site b/c Titanium rings are the latest. They have really great deals and you can customize the ring as well. I advise my tight budget clients to give this site the run around before making the decision to not use rings. I have had clients that loved.

On the personal level. Me and my fiance ordered our promise bands though this site. We spent $100 for 2 rings and we have both engraved with our names and the date we started our relationship. We plan to get our acutal wedding bands from this site when we are ready. Our promise rings will be put away and used as hand me downs to our children and grandchildren.

I think some of the other answerers have had good suggestions...You can buy inexpensive rings, and exchange these, to be upgraded later. In fact, if you get plain bands, you can even use these and have diamonds or engravings done later, so that you're still wearing the rings you actually exchanged.

You might also look at second-hand stores. Often, they will carry "vintage" jewelry at very reasonable prices.

Another suggestion would be to have some flower leis made, and exchange these during the ceremony. The reason I suggest this is because a lei would have the same circular nature as a ring, which symbolizes the unending nature of your love for each other. My only concern is that it might be as expensive to have these made as it would be to purchase inexpensive rings.

You can afford wedding bands sweetie. You can get sterling silver for less than 30 each and upgrade later when you have the money. Plain gold is less than 100.

I suppose you could do the single rose or the ribbon thing but I would really try to find some sort of ring.

This can't really be done during the ceremony (unless you really work to make it happen) but I've seen people tattoo a ring on their finger instead of wearing a wedding ring.

Otherwise, you could each tie a small ribbon around the finger during the ceremony, and take it off at the end of the night.

Good luck!

You could get some costume jewelry for the ceremony purpose and possible photographs. You can take them off if you want after the ceremony?!

I recommend Target!

if you want to exchange something just for exchange sake and you're not worried about keeping it, maybe you could exchange single roses. maybe you could find other affordable jewlery to exchange, perhaps a locket or pocket watch? or you could just get cheap replicas of wedding rings and use them until you can afford the real thing.

Did you ever see Braveheart? In Ancient times, the poor would give from the heart. Both bride and groom promise each other their worldly goods. The bride would offer a hand embroidered kerchief and the groom would offer a family heirloom provided by his mother or an elder female relative.

SaulG21 has the right idea. Family heirlooms would be very touching and memorable.

And I applaud you for being practical and not going over-budget for the sake of "tradition". I hope you have a wonderful day!

You can get rings for ten bucks. Skip buying a couple of coffees.
