It only works temporarily--and it's unhealthy.
Eat 6 mini-meals per day.
Example:
1. Bowl of Cheerios, 1% milk, fruit
2. Non-fat yogurt, juice
3. Tuna on lettuce & tomato w/lemon squirted on it -lemonade
4. Slice of whole-grain toast, green tea (or juice or 1% milk)
5. Broiled chicken breast, 2 veggies (1 = green, leafy), 1% milk OR juice OR green tea (hot or iced)
6. Non-fat pudding OR non-fat yogurt OR fruit OR carrot and celery sticks, with some 1% milk, juice or herb tea

There is more to health than weight. Driving 150 mph might get you to work on time, but does that make it a good idea? No. It'll kill get you arrested if it doesn't kill you. Starving is the same way. Yeah, you'll lose weight. But you'll also lose nutrients, muscle, brain cells, and energy. What good is being skinny when you are sick all the time or dead?
What else have you tried? Better question... what else have you tried that you actually stuck to and didn't cheat on? Odds are nothing else has worked because you've either tried something that didn't work, like a fad diet, or you didn't follow through. Go discuss this with your doctor. Ask them what you should do, and stick to that like glue. They will tell you to eat right (not starve) and to exercise. Anything else is a waste of your time.

starving is bad but it works because you are depriving your body of energy. plain and simple. no (or few) calories in...no excess weight build up. your best bet is to get a nutritional tracker (calorieking.com) has one and play around with your daily caloric amounts until you finally find something that works for you. don't ever go below 1200cal a day though. chances are you're not losing weight because your nutritional habits are not great and you probably need to pick up an exercise routine. nutrition is a tricky thing to nail down when you don't know anything about food (which is the case with most people whether they think so or not.) i would then recommend you read this book: "eating for life" by bill phillips and learn more about what you should be putting in yourself and what you shouldn't.

Starving only works til you start eating again! Then you put the weight right back on. It slows your metabolism down and turns everything you do eat into fat! You can get away with it for a bit while you are young, but that will change too. Better to learn good eating habits now, so you won't continue having problems in the future!

As I understand it, you're damaging muscle tissue when you starve yourself. Not a good idea.
If you want to lose weight you simply have to burn off more calories than you take in. That means exercise. How hard is that to understand?
Visit your local library and pick up books on proper nutrition and exercise (not diets).

Your body will first start buring muscle. It won't touch the fat unless it absolutely has to. So, when you starve yourself, yeah, you're losing weight, but it's muscle weight, which weighs more. So, really, you're just hurting your body because it's really hard to function with no muscle, and you're increasing your body fat %, which is really the definition of overweight.
See a therapist, or a nurse.

Sure it works, but how long can you sustain yourself on nothing? Then when you start eating again, your metabolism is all screwed up and you actually will gain more weight because of the starvation. Its like you shock your body and now it wants to store up calories and fat incase you starve it again.

Starvin to lose weight is bad because it causes your body to break down protein from muscles which causes toxic by products to form in the blood and can poison your kidneys and liver.
Protein is denser than fat. Losing protein will lower your weight quickly. You want to lose only the excessive fat, but you want to keep he muscle and the normal fat (it acts as a adding and as insulation for your body. A sensible diet combined with excercise is a much better way.

Starving yourself will eventually make you sick or kill you. The best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat 4-5 small meals(snacks) a day. You dont want to be scary skinny, that is just gross

what would happen to your car if you never put gas in it? it would stop running. Food is the fuel for your body. Sure, not eating will make you lose weight but you can't live with no food. And what happens when you eat again? you gain it back don't you? it's a cycle.
EAT SOMETHING
