Sprint cup sounds stupid.
Sounds like something they give you to get a urine sample at the doctor's office.

It really does not matter in the end. Changing the Nextel name to Sprint will help out at&t's case.
I kind of think with Sprint having a high churn of customers and losing further ground to at&t, verizon, and t-mobile that they may be looking for a graceful exit. It is no secret that their revenue is down and stock holders are not happy.
I was a Sprint customer, and left due to their poor customer service, and insane policies. I am now with Cingular/at&t.
I think the overall name change will confuse some of the younger people out there thinking that they might be going to a sprint car race, and not NASCAR. Now if they can just get some real TV coverage that is not so commercial infested.

The name doesn't change anything, besides the fact that it could get confused with some sprint car series.
NASCAR hasn't made it official, it's just that sources told ESPN this. Likely to be true, but expect the unexpected.
Nextel is part of Sprint now, so naturally Sprint would want some sort of way to get it's name on it, not Nextel.

Yes, it will happen, I know that. I logged into the Nextel website today to pay my cell phone bill and it redirected me to a Sprint website. I guess just like Cingular is now AT&T well Nextel is now Sprint. I don't understand why phone companies can't keep the same name forever. They are always being bought out by somebody else or changing names.

I think that they should only change then name if AT&T is allowed to have its car. because NEXTEL bought the right to the Cup Series, not Sprint. and Cingular was AT&T before it was Cingular. Nextel was Nextel and Sprint was Sprint. I just think it is, more do as I say not as I do Politics, like we have in the rest of this country

I want Winston Cup back personally.
I don't think it will matter. They have enough puppets watching that what ever they call it they will watch.
But if you get right down to it Sprint has been around longer than nextel.

I do not care if it is "The Sprint to the Cup Series", as long as they do not take any of the racing, Tracks or fan allowances away from us fans.........ALL FANS THAT IS...........or start jacking UP the prices at the tracks & stores on us.......I Honestly do not care what they call it , as long as it is not the kotex cup (like dale fan say's) or the Massengill douch cup......If that is all that changes...What about the TROJAN Cup??

Once it was no longer Winston Cup, I knew that it would be changing appox. every 5 to 10 yrs. I don't believe that it will make a difference to Nascar fans, just might screw with the Drivers.
