i love healthy food and i always have! brocolli, spinach, carrots, celery, lima beans, asparagus, all fruits, fish, whole wheat/grain everything...you name it, i have always loved it. my mom was also a fitness trainer so she had us exposed to all the good foods at an early age which i think is key. as soon as we had enough teeth to chew it, we were eating it. i don't think enough parents do this and this is why when the kids get old enough to express their opinions about food and make choices as to whcih ones to eat, they don't chose the healthy ones. processed foods have so many sensory appealing chemicals in them and they are specifically geared towards tasting more delicious than natural foods. i think this is why the choice is so difficult and most young people pick out food for taste rather than food for fuel. i've always been taught to think of food for fuel and in terms of what foods (regardless of taste) will keep my body running optimally. parents need to become more educated about this matter so they can raise children who are used to eating healthy foods more often than unhealthy foods. i have been a nanny for many years and have seen the difference in nutritional choices of children growing up in nutritionally unhealthy households vs healthy ones and can conclude this behavior is learned in early, early childhood.

While a lot of kids don't like what we consider to be healthy foods, it's important to remember that healthy foods aren't just steamed broccoli with liver.
I've often made teriaki salmon that they love, with peppers sauted in a little bit of oyster sauce, and sushi rice. They seem to be very happy with it, and it's just a matter of finiding healthy things that they like.

Not my favorite, either, and I am not that young anymore. Too much fiber gives me a lot of digestive pain and bleeding. I have Crohn's Disease. I don't eat salads anymore.
I focus more on fats and grease to keep and maintain weight, and hit the gym to moderate the effects.
