Casey Mears now sits 19th in points after being almost outside the top 35 before getting his first win @ Charlotte in the Coca Cola 600. Being a Mears fan, as well as a Hendrick fan, What do you other non-Mears and Mears fans think about his chances on making the TOP12 and being in the CHASE!? I think he's got a very good shot @ it. If you look @ 10th through 18th, with the exception of a few.. All those guys aren't near on the roll that Casey has been on. I'm not saying he's a lock, but I think his chances are very good.

He still has a long way to go, it's hard to get into the Chase after that kind of start, but it has been done.
Who knows, I'm not even counting him out, especially since I blinked and he jumped from 35th to 19th in a flash, he just needs to keep that momentum going, one bad race and it could be over for him. There really is no room for error in this situation.

I'm a Gordon and HMS fan also. I like Casey and you are very right, he is on a role. It didn't look good for him at the start of this season, but he has really turned things around. He now sits only 217 points out of 12th place which is currently held by a soon to be Hendrick driver, Dale Jr. All he needs to do is keep up with the momentum he has behind him and not get too far ahead of himself. It's definitely not to late for him to make the chase, and with the Big Mo he has right now, and the engine he is running under the hood, nothing is out of the question yet.

Nah, not this year. Kurt Busch will get back into the chase before Casey Mears gets into it this year.

His chances are pretty good as long as he don't start having all that bad luck again. I like Mears. It would be good to see him in the chase.

Well I'm not sure if it was Rick but Darian told Casey to let Jimmie pass him in order for Jimmie to get more points. It happened at Kansas.

The more Hendricks drivers in the chase the better.

That's all I am saying

He is what, 217 points behind 12th....could be done, but it gets more and more difficult the closer you get.....If he keeps rollin like he has been the last 3-4 weeks then he will contend.....will be fun to watch!! Go casey!

I like Casey Mears because he at hedricks, I hope he makes it, but I don't think he can beat drivers like Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. It can go either way through

IF, he can stay consistent he may have an outside chance, but I'm sorry, I don't see him making the chase.
