Sure it is. Just like with everything else. When you give all your worries and responsibilites over to a god of some sort, then you no longer feel that you need to be accountable for your life and your actions. It's all in someone else's hands. That's got to be way easier. Deluded and self-destructive, but easier.

No, it's not easier and since we don't know when the end will be it's not relevant to the state of the planet at this time.
