Many here are right when they say that Moses was attributed to be the author of the first five books, called the Law in Judaism. Of course, he didn't write about the account of his death in the last verses of the last book of the Law, Deuteronomy. Whether he was the first author or not, we don't know for sure. Because, someone also was correct when they said that the author of the book of Job might be actually the first.
Also, in your question it seems like you also want to know when was the first Bible ever put together, with all its 37 OT books and 27 NT books, as we have it today. That would be Athanasius, who was the one early father of the church that presented it before the Council of Chalcedon in the 4th century AD. It came to a vote before all the bishops, and the overwhelming majority agreed it to be our Canon of Holy Scripture for the whole church around the world as they knew it back then, or what we would call today the inspired Word of God. Of course God had already inspired each of the writers when they actually wrote their part, as you said, the original autographs. It just took the church this long, a measley 3 centuries to finally figure it out! Boy, does God have patience with us!

Old Testament is the scripture of ancient Israel. There are a lot of writers, historical accounts of scribes that kept records, the prophets, Moses... some claims to be written by God.
New Testament was the early church, after Jesus time. The accounts of Jesus' life and teachings and instructions of early followers were circulated among the new churches.

Nobody.
It was initially oral tradition, and then scribes penned the words, but there were MANY scribes.
Too, there was no "first" bible. It was a collection of scrolls. At one point, the Church decided which texts would be included in the canon (the definitive set of authorized scripture), and later, these individual texts were assembled into a "bible".
There was no singular author or "original scribe" who wrote the entire thing cover to cover though.

This question is way to complex to answer here but please refer to Prof Friedman's work "Who wrote the Bible" and the multitude of scholarship derived from his work.
BTW for those who say Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Bible (OT) did he also write about his death as well at the end of Exodus?

No one person wrote the bible.. there over over 40 authors. Do you mean who compiled the modern day bible as we know it? Or who decided what letters and books to come together to make the bible?

No one knows, because none of the original writings exist. However it is thought that they were written by many different writers, over many hundreds, if not thousands of years.

The bible is written by men inspired by God. Get yourself a New Living translation which is written in plain modern English and read it for yourself because obviously by your question, you have not read it.
