As a few posters above said, it's probably natural.

The same thing happened with out cat- my mother went crazy until we found an article about it.

Check this, it should tell you what you need to know:

http://home.howstuffworks.com/home-remedies-for-cats-ga1.htm

From the article : "It's not unusual for a cat's gums -- and even the roof of his mouth -- to take on some of his coat color, especially as he gets older. For some reason, orange cats are also prone to developing "freckles" on their lips, gums, and inside their mouths. Black gums on a black cat aren't anything to worry about, but pale, yellowish, or bluish tinged gums on any cat should be reported to your veterinarian right away."

Coincidentally, our cat is orange too.

If his gums were previously pink then you have a problem- probably gum disease- if so get him to the vet.

On the other hand, he might be like my ginger tom, Jake who has brown and pink gums, a brown spotty nose and brown spots on his foot pads. I can assure you that Jake is perfectly healthy as he catches and kills at least one mouse every day and even successfully caught a kestrel once (I am deadly serious- I watched him catch it)

It's possibly just his colouring. Like black fur on cats means they have dark grey/black skin, white fur means pink skin, so a multi-coloured cat (well, e.g. ginger/black/white like my Star =D) would have patches of different skin colours if it were shaved. Star also has a part black, part pink nose. Maybe in these areasyour cat is just a 'different colour'... I wouldn't think it was anything to worry about - not if he's always been like that =)

Hi my ginger cat also has this, as a kitten he was just pink but pigment has come through on his nose and gums, its totally harmless just the colour of his skin.

It's just pigmentation. Some cats have pink gums, noses, lips, "eyeliner" and pads on their feet, and some have brown or black, and there are all mixtures and variations. The office cat where I work is an orange and white tabby, except that he has black whiskers.

Unless the spots are new, it's just part of his markings. Cats can have different color markings all over, including nose, paws, gums, lips, roof of mouth. If you shave a cat (like for surgery) you will see that their markings are not just fur, they are on the skin too.
One of my cats has a half-pink half-black nose. Another has a white nose with a black splotch. Another is a tortie and she has tortie markings all over her including her paw pads and inside her mouth.

My orange kitty is ten years old and he has those black spots on his gums and nose. The vet said it isn't anything to worry about.

this is just a sign of age like humans get wrinkles this happens to both cats and dogs.

Don't worry about anything

It could be your kitty's natural coloring. But if you're concerned, set a dental appointment with your vet: Kitties need their teeth cleaned too.
