In another question, I asked people how they would make the world better if they had God's knowledge and power:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhBPQxNrceD80976XIFVJNvsy6IX?qid=20070620091727AAiUGQs

To those who actually answered: thank you. Now ask yourself, if an imperfect mortal knows what needs to be fixed and WOULD fix it if given the chance, why wouldn't your God, who DOES have the power and who is infinitely more loving than you, do the same thing?

But most Christians dodged the question by saying they either couldn't or wouldn't take the power offered, even in this hypothetical situation. Which makes me wonder: is it a central part of their delusion that they insist that they engage in NO sort of "make believe" at all, in order to avoid considering even the POSSIBILITY that they might be making their religion up as they go along?

Good question.

Yes. I noticed this too in my questions about why they have yet to leave Y! Answers and headed to the ME to convert the Muslims. Most avoided the questions and threw insults: "Dumb a s s, there are missionaries there already."

I think that there is a fundamental block built up in their mind by brain washing and they cannot see past it so they attack ineffectively in order to redirect a question they can not face (I call this the George Bush fallacy.)

There is a fundamental flaw in your logic. You have ingnored the impact of you own point of view. You assume that 1) there is something wrong with the world and that 2) everyone else should agree with you view and that 3) what's wrong in your view, is in fact fixable. You then proceed as though this is a fact.

Those three questions are where a lot of philosophical thinking run into trouble. Let me suggest that what you see as being imperfect and needing to be fixed is in fact part of the diversity of God's plan. It provide balance. Much like our form of government: If every member of Congress were allowed to do whatever they wished, we'd have kaos. Instead we have arguments and eventually compromise. If the president were allowed to do whatever he wished, we'd have kaos; instead we hae arguments and eventually compromise. And everyday, regardless of the arguments, the world continues to turn and life as we know it goes on.

The things that color our experiences are the checks and balances in our lives that focus un on the fundamental choices we have to make between that which is good and life affirming or bad and not life affirming.

We each have a choice on how we want to contribute to life. How each individual chooses to live will have a great impact on those areas you currently view as "imperfect". Whatever God may want, we always have a choice on whether to listen to His voice or not. And He's fully aware of that. He designed us with the free will to choose.

You have made my head hurt. now I need some Tylenol.

OK, i did answer your first question so I get a smiley face. Now I am compelled to answer this question. and this one is alot harder....

I think God is working on making the world a better place. He is just doing it in his way in his time. (yes I know that sounds like a cop out.) But its like this. God gives us everything. So he is giving us wonderful doctors and scientists who will eventually one day be able to find a way to cure all sorts of diseases. see where I am going with this.......

I was one of those that said I wouldn't take the power because well, absolute power corrupts absolutely. And if I wasn't god, but had his power.... chances are I would be looking up some ex boyfriends and smiting them down. then I would see about the whole world hunger thing. that was my reasoning.... I don't know about anyone elses

now, my head really hurts. :-)
but great questions!!

As a christian myself just because you may not have been answered the way you thought you should be in no way means that Christians dodged the answer. I wouldn't take the responsibility because it would be way to much sort of like being the President of the United States not everyone would like that job either.
God doesn't change things because He gave us free will

The thing you have to remember about God, is that he gave us free will, so any thing that is wrong with the world as you put it, is up to us to fix. Now how we choose to fix it can either be done by your own will (witch will fail)and has, or you can listen to what God wants you to do and find the way correct it . also its a combined effot to change things, one person alone can do little. but a Group with God can do anything. Now I'm not trying to argue you into faith, you have to want it. But you did ask.

Or perhaps it's wisdom in knowing that if an imperfect human had the power of God that human would not be capable of handling it properly. Even with God's power and knowledge the selfish tendencies of man to make others do what they think is best would rise to the surface and create more havoc than it would solve. That's what people learn from their religions, that they are not perfect and their hope is in following a perfect God who knows when their actions will create more problems than they solve.

That's a perfectly valid question that Christians avoid answering. They picture god as perfect. But if he was perfect then what would be the point in making a universe. He simply doesnt need it. The idea that god is perfect is one of the major things that works against him.

God gave Humans free will because he knew with out free will human would never truly love him. Human have made the mess down here on earth. Should we be made to clean it up? It was Adam who sinned and got every one kicked out of Paradise. So we are having to deal with his sin on top of every one elses sin.

Your question contradicts an earlier answer you gave. In that answer you talk about God being imaginary, in this question you state that you think we can't engage in make believe? If God is imaginary, as you state he is, then wouldn't that make us better at make believe then you?
