I do not agree with it at all. It goes right along with my thoughts on the past champion provisional and the top 35 rule. do away with those and you will see much less of this. After all that is exactly why Waltrip is doing it. What is more interesting is Terry in the 55 instead of the 96. Wasn't he the first one to drive 96 for Hall of fame racing?

It's not fair, and I think it just shows that the team or the driver isn't confident when it comes to driving road courses.
I'm surprised that Raines got replaced, the #96 team is well within the top 35, it really doesn't make sense to me at all.
Waltrip apparently wants the MWR cars in the show to satisfy the sponsors, because both the #00 and the #55 are nowhere near getting into the top 35, so owner points are not likely to be the reason for his move. Speaking of the #00, Reutimann has no road course experience, but that shouldn't be an excuse to skip them.
And what happened to Mayfield? The #36 car isn't even running this week, instead it's the #23 car being driven by someone else.
I won't even bother mentioning the #37 and #49 cars, they're junk anyways.

Hall of Fame racing is trying to ensure that they don't fall any closer to the "Outside the Top-35 in owner points" so they are ensured a starting spot on Sunday. Fellows is a damn good driver though, and will probably pilot that 96 DLP car to a solid top-15 run. As for Michael Waltrip, He's probably doing this so Terry can use his past-champions provisional incase he doesn't make the show on time. Labonte is also a road-course veteran, and will probably not need a provisional to make the field. Look for Terry to get a top-15 as well... And Yes, this is fair to the sport and the others. Raines and Michael will not gain any DRIVER POINTS since they are not driving their cars, so it will not help them in the DRIVER POINTS standings. It will however help them in the OWNER POINTS standings, so all in all.. It's a smart business move, and a good financial move come race day.

Owners want to get their cars in the race like Michael Waltrip. I think the same drivers should run every race and not change out. I think it's funny Michael kicked himself out of the car.

At this point Waltrip will do anything to get his car in the race...even if it means changing drivers. Too bad, Mikey was great when his brother DW was so excited about Mikey winning Daytona. He's a long way throm that happening again...

Its simple, they are not competing for driver's points, so the OWNERS want the car to get the most OWNER'S points as that is where the top 35 rule comes into play. This has been going on in NASCAR for as long as I can remember with the "road race ringers" coming in. Is it fair? What's not fair about it? They can put whoever they want in these cars at any time can't they???

I do not believe that it is fair, however these "fill in" drivers, otherwise known as "ringers" never do anything anyway, so I do not care.
Waltrip and Raines do not know how to drive a course, that is why they bring in other drivers. But the others will not contend for a win.

yep in baseball the starting pitcher is usually the guy with the best record against the opposing team. these drivers have contracts with the owners (not sure how it works) to appear atcertain tracks and i think that as long as their obligations are met to their primary driver these guys can get in the car wherever the owner decides

If they were to race this weekend, they would wreck or end up finishing way in the back. It's better to let somebody else better at road courses race and keep the owner points from dropping down any further.
