I know that there have been people in Pakistan and Iran protesting this, but why? I know that some would argue that this is an insult to Muslims, but is this knighthood so important? After all, if the Muslim clerics are correct, Salman Rushdie will face the wrath of Allah on the Day of Judgment and the knighthood will have meant nothing. At the end of the day, the knighthood is of no real consequence.

Rushdie will have to answer to God for what he has written and for what his intentions were in writing it. I pass no judgement on him, for I cannot speak for Allah.

I often question why celebrities are knighted to begin with. I guess I need to Google "what it means to be a knight."

Uh, I think the stupid queen knighted Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. Appears these days that loyalty to the throne and battle prowess are no longer needed. All you need is to be a filthy rich celebrity which ruins my hopes of being knighted. I hear that Malta will knight anybody for a fee of $50,000 US equivalent. So what does this boil down. Knighthood: [definition]: A ceremony where some rich and famous retard gets a title but no corresponding power. In the English ceremony, you are smitten on the shoulders lightly with the flat edge of a sword in the names of St. Michael the Archangel and St. George who killed a fire breathing dragon, which shows how this ceremony is about as reality based as Harry Potter and the Bush regime's Foreign Policy.

I don't care, he wrote his book Satanic Verses when I was one year old, I did not even know who he was till all this knighthood business. and I agree with your last sentence, however I also agree with your first answer.....by giving him knighthood its like the Queen is encouraging insulting of Muslims and Islam....if he had wrote a book like that about Christianity do you really think that they would have given him knighthood? no way! anyway in cosmic events knight hood has no value and salvation is possible only through God's graces.....

I don't care, there are more important things going on---I find his work quite boring.

Lucky him, he insulted ppl all over the world and gor rich off of it...now they made him a 'knight' does that have any real meaning today? Not really, sure he must be happy and proud. Good for him - I couldn't care less.

NO...I stopped paying attention to Satan's government puppet show months ago. The British government (puppets) are simply trying to stir up "Muslim outrage" and trouble to help justify their pending bombing and invasion of Iran. Don't be surprised if the Brits blow up another train or bus in their own country and blame it on "Iranian terrorists".

I said pretty much what you said a couple days ago-I couldn't care less about this Rushdie knighthood.

And, ma'am, I agree with your last sentence!

Obviously, he is being used to humiliate the Muslims. Unfortunately, he does not realise it.

This is overall an unethical thing to award and reward a person who has deliberately humiliated a religion. Why'd any person consider it a normal behavior?
Any religion would condemn such activities.. not just Muslims.

Of course they care. What a wonderful opportunity to feign insult and act out in a violent way, all in order to demonstrate to the world just how peaceful they really are.
