It hasn't really "spread like wildfire". It's pretty much always been at the level it is today, but because of the rapid spread of Islamic terrorism, they're getting a lot more attention than they did before.
Actually, and kudos to them, there is a growing number of Muslims who are leaving that faith precisely because of the wide-spread acceptance within Islam of the violence and brutality we see every day on the news.
The majority of Muslims leaving Islam are turning to either Christianity or, oddly enough, Buddhism.
Go figure . . .

First, I would like to thank you for asking about my religion. It is a relgion of peace, (which the media has distorted.) Many people hear the craziest things about Islam, no wonder they end up asking all these Questions about it in the end, it seems too much too be true,so when they finally find REAL information about it and do their research, they come to the conclusion that it's nothing more than a peacefull religion that worships one god and one god alone.All this misconception about Islam is just plain hilarious. Much of the spread of Islam is due to warring and assault on other religions of other nations. They have a convert or die policy and wish to spread their religious views throughout the world and to take over the world and especially the west.
Many of the spread of Islam is trying to be forced upon others and not chosen. If they wont convert they get their heads cut-off with a machette knife. Hows that for the religion of peace?

Economics. When a country's economic situation gets to the point where it's not WORTH trying (working) or you can't even get a job and everyone's living in poverty, then most people find religion (or National Socialism, aka., Hitler's "philosophy") very appealing. It gives them a false sense of meaning and hope and they're told what to do.
That's also why CHRISTIANITY has gotten so popular in the U.S. lately: the ECONOMY STINKS! People are desperate, so they are seeking comfort AND somebody to blame; fundamentalism gives them both, as does fundy Islam.

It is the One and the only Truth one can have Confidence in it and be Proud of. It teaches pure Monotheism. No one Sentence in the Holy Book (QURAN) has ever been denied or claimed to be a fault or a mistake, Never, either Social, Scientifically, or Naturally.

It is supposedly the religion of the people, where the king sits next to the farmer. It spreads because some of the world is basically poor and this appeals to them. I of course am writing opinion, anyone who can add more please do so.

This is news to me, and I have a BA in Religion. It spread like wildfire when it first started, because it was spread by the sword. But where Islam is the majority now hasn't really spread all that much since about the 11th Century. Consider, also, they have lost Spain and part of the Balkans, so if anything, it has shrunk.

New religions tend to be interesting, and a religion as mysterious and sophisticated as Islam is more interesting still. Also it has many similarities with christianity, that makes it easier to comprehend, and adopt.

Nothing. But if offered a life of Islam or death, most choose a life of Islam, and that is exactly what happens in many parts of the world. In the US...I have NO idea. It seems to be very popular in the African-American section. Perhaps as a rebellion to the White religions???? Religion, in general, is a poor substitute for a life of sanity and logic. Religion goes against the very grain of human values. Sadly, so many are "lost" in the world, they will cling to even the most absurd things to have a sense of belonging.

The question treats the hypothosis that Islam has spread quickly, or more quickly than any other religion. I don't see any evidence to support that position. If anything, Christianity has spread far more quickly than Islam over just the past 250 years.
