Nearly daily, atheists and other non-Christians are harrassed and asked what we are doing in the R&S section. Today, while perusing the General Science section, I come across this question from a known R&S member. At first, I beleive he is asking a serious question, so I click on it. Instead, I find him in the science section, spreading lies ala Kent Hovind, making claims that a growing segment of the scientific community is moving against the idea of a billion year old Earth. Fortunately, 9 out of 10 responders have put him in his place, and explained to him that even a ten year old child could see through the lies and arguments used...

So, what are you people doing in a section you have no business in? HUH?

WOW - nothing gets by you people, huh?? I AM BEING SARCASTIC - to a point. Every day you ask why we are here in the R&S section - then, when I ask what you are doing in the Science section, Im told you have every right to ask annd answer questions there. WHY DOES THAT APPLY TO YOU, BUT NOT TO OTHERS? Why are you welcome to answer anywhere you like, but no one other than Christians are allowed in the R&S section? Double standards anyone?

Excellent point and I'm so glad you have an example to prove your point. Too bad the question is over the heads of a lot of your answerers.

I realize that "Science" as you practice it is a truly intolerant religion, but what is your fear of Christians investigating your faith? Are you afraid you cannot defend your doctrine when it is challenged by people who are not as indoctrinated as your "scientifical" pals are?
I notice you seem to think that physical science is some sort of a democracy-that the majority of officialized "scientists" determine what is real and what is not. It would not matter if every "scientist" in the world decided the sun was made out of vanilla yogurt, the sun would NOT be made of vanilla yogurt no matter what the majority of "scientists" said. Likewise, the age of the earth has not been definitely determined. Nobody has found the manufacturers name plate or whatever it is you will accept as proof of how old it is. It could be billions of years old, it could be of recent manufacture. NOBODY knows for sure, even the high priests of scientifical secularism.
In the future, rather than being a scientifical superficial thinker, try to support your argument (whatever it is) with something besides lame insults, would you? How do YOU know the age of the earth, or any of that other scientifical dogma you take on blind faith? What makes you the judge of who can be in a certain section of YA or not? Do you have any knowledge of burdens of proofs, types of proofs, etc? I doubt it.

Well the vast majority of R/S are atheist science nuts trying to prove something to the religious, So whats wrong with one religious being there. Looks like not one science nut has left R/S, so maybe it's time to go somewhere else.

Although even being a christian I think it's crazy too say that the earth is not billions of years old or even that man is only 6000 yrs. No where in the bible does God give an exact time frame...The only thing it says is that God's timing is very different then ours (Peter: One day to the LORD is LIKE a 1000 yrs..) Which is only a PARABLE.

I better be more careful what I wish for....I asked not too long ago why people don't post questions in the science category. Hopefully, that person will actually read the responses and learn something.

As a Reverend, I can tell you that religion and science are not really at odds, like many of the crazies on this site will have you believe. It's a case of "Father forgive them, they know not what they do."

Trying to perform a miracle; convince actual intellectual people that God created the universe.

But doesn't only God perform miracles? (Which he or she should know since they're christian...) or do they want to be like God and therefore defy them? (like that oh so literate doctor tells us...)

Anyway, great stand up comedy - luckily, stand up comedy is hardly taken seriously - and judging from the laughter in the hall, people there don't take it seriously either :)

When I log onto yahoo I click the "answer" category at the top of the page. That way you get to see ALL kinds of questions. That is more fun then just lurking in the religious nuts section, or the pet nuts sections... I mean, I am here for MY entertainment and fun, not to hold hands and sing songs with you.

True Christianity (Catholicism) has no issues with science. The idea that the world is 10,000 years old is ridiculous.

Because it's their right to go where they please and say what is on their mind. Many Christians here have very valid scientific backgrounds. If those in the science section are mature enough they'd just ignore it.
