I have tried everything i have read...cycling the key 4 times, 8 times and even 10 times with no luck. the remotes I am trying to program have been used before with other vehicles but not my explorer. Is there something I am not doing right, or do these remotes need to be de-programmed first? From all I have read the programming process wipes the memory from the remotes initially anyhow. My explorer does have the keypad on the door if this makes a difference. Any help would be much appreciated since the dealership would be charging upwards of $60.00 per remote to program. Thanks!

Are the remotes you are trying to program identical to the ones that came with the car? If they look different or have different buttons they may not work. I can't remember if the method to program the remote is in the owner's manual or not. Look on Ford sites like fordtruck or stangnet. You may have to register to get to the how-to sections but that is no big deal. good luck.

Turn the key from off to run 5 times within 10 seconds, ending in run. The locks should lock and unlock, to verify you are in the programming mode. Then hit any button on the remote. The locks should cycle to confirm programming. All remotes must be programmed at this time, or the ones not programed will not function. Bear in mind that the remotes have a certain frequency, and are not erasable. All you are doing is telling the module to accept this frequency. If they will not program, the remotes are incorrect for your vehicle. This info is from Ford's tech website. I hope this helps, and good luck!
