your aux sends and returns are usualy for effects. For instance: aux 1 is deticated to a certain reverb/delay unit. That means on any chanel you want that effect, u just send it from the aux send on that cannel. the return should be set to how loud you want that effect in your mix. If you want to record the effect, then you must incorporate it with the signal to tape, or hard drive. Your question is not very specific, i hope this helps. E-mail me with any more questions.

An "insert" puts a device (usually an effect like reverb, or a compressor) in line to individual channel you plug it in to. For example, if you wanted to add a compressor to a vocal on channel one, you plug the TRS end of the Y cable into the insert on ch.1, and the "tip" plug to the imput of the compressor and the "ring" plug to the output.
It's a way to add effects to just one channel - not the whole mix. If you want effects to the whole mix, you use the "effects in" and "effects out" jacks.

Im not sure what you are trying to hook up- is the Behringer a power amp,a mixer board, or what? And what are you plugging in that would require a Y cable... a cd plaer or something? Can you post more info?
