I think the bride and groom "deserve" to fell special on their day! I think the bride and groom "deserve" to have a day without any family drama. I also think the bride and groom "deserve" to have a special day!
But no one "deserves" and $50,000 dollar dress or a $100,000+ reception. If you can afford it and want it, then have it, but don't dilute yourself into thinking you "deserve."

I hate that word and if I freaken hear it from my friend one more time, I am going to kill her. I seriously, don't know too many people who deserve a terrible life, to be homeless or starving.... and to deserve a wedding just sounds so material. You deserve to be loved, and have love and be happy and to have nice life. A wedding shouldn't be the make or brake all.
My friend can't afford the wedding she deserves so she is holding her parents to a court order that was made when she was 12 (we are 30 now) and forcing both of them to give her 5 grand they don't have. I think it's terrible and selfish!!
She deserves a kick in the butt!
She deserves no one to show to her wedding.
She deserves a spoon full of reality.

I deserve it. I'm also paying for it. I make good money and it's been a long rocky road until I finally found my Prince Charming.
I know that I deserve a fun, high-end wedding and so does he. I'm throwing the party of century and I will only have the very best for my very best.
I wouldn't have less than what I deserve. And yes, we are worth it.

I guess it would depend on the individual and what type of person they are. It's difficult to feel excited for lazy self-important spoiled princesses who've never given back anything to society and wrack up a wedding bill of $40K on their daddy's credit cards.
People deserve happiness. I wouldn't want to wish anything but the best for another human being. But it's how they go about achieving that happiness that determines how they should be judged in the end.

I think there are occasions in everyone's life when they deserve something special. A wedding is one of those occasions to me. This doesn't mean spend a million bucks you don't have--the need to be realistic never goes away, but yes, I do believe people deserve special treatment sometimes.

To being deserving of one is one thing but to not being able to afford it is another. Try budgeting the wedding and focusing on things that you really want and need at the wedding as opposed to trying to match it to you "dream" wedding. Weddings are important and for most people only happen once, but going out of your [financial] way to make it to your absolute liking would be irresponsible.

Sure they do. Technically I deserve an antique fully restored Stingray sitting in front of my house but that doesn't mean I'll get it any time soon. :( People forget there is a big diff. between deserve and reality. There are people with bucket loads of money who are douches and don't deserve it and there are wonderful people on welfare. There are also wonderful rich people and douches on welfare. That's just life.
Everbody deserves the righ to pursue their dreams.

Don't forget - Nightmares are also dreams.
That said, not only does everyone "deserve" the wedding of their "dreams" - they actually GET the wedding of their dreams.
whether the want to or not.
This is especially true of couples who have champagne tastes and a beer budget - talk about a nightmare!

Deserves? Oh, boy, I hate that word, especially when it comes with the expectation that it comes at a cost to someone else! If all marriage is to a person is a big expensive party where they are the center of attention, then they are too immature to be getting married!
