Hi all I hope you don't mind me sharing with you this great group for carers and relatives of people with bipolar. I have found this group to be the most supportive place I have seen and the information they give is outstanding. the group is understanding and caring. totally up to date on the latest information regarding bipolar disorder. so please come and take a look.

Hi I am sure I will find this group supportive. I am a single Mom BP of 2 Boys that are BP my youngest Dakota age 10yrs was dx at age 6yrs old and my oldest was just DX at age 15/16 yrs old. Dakota is my most severe child he is BP 1 w/severe manic. We have not been able to get him stabilized as of yet. at age of 6yrs old after being placed on zoloft for anger with the first pdoc He tried suicide for the first time within 2weeks of being on the med. He was phosp for about 3 to 4 days that weekend for the first time then about march he tried it again at home and he was phosp again for about 3 to 4 days and I had already spoke to his insurance and had approval for residential.

Chris--ask you doctor about carbatrol. It's a seizure med (some drs think manic episodes are seizures) that works wonders on my BP, ADD, PDD 16yo son. He takes 1000 mg per day. It's an older med, but as a mood stabilizer it cannot be beat.
