Can't pay the finance charges. I've decided to wait and try and settle with these companies. How long should I wait to start negotiating with them? I'm a co-signer on husbands and my house; can they put a lien on it? My husband is not on my credit dept.

Yes they can put a lien on the house. Since you are married the house is partially yours anyway. At least in most states thats the case.

Call the credit card company and come up with a monthly play that you can afford. Normally they will work with you. Otherwise you may want to consider refinancing your house if you can.

Credit card debt consolidation adds up all your unpaid balances and converts them into a single payment. This payment is far lesser than each of the individual payments. When you finalize a plan with a debt consolidation company, the company repays your dues to your creditors. Then you make a single payment to the consolidation company every month. Your average new interest rate is much below the old interest rate.

At this balance you might not want to go it alone. If professionals could save you an additional 20%, that is $9000 in additional savings. They also have experience with just about every creditor so if your bill is with Chase, they know their guidelines and tendancies. They could try to put a lien on your house depending on your state. I recommend you visit the source website and checkout their free evaluation form so that one of their arbitrators can give you a call.

I know the stress you feel dont wait get to a debt relief agency one that is non profit they will arrange with your creditors a payment you can afford. dont use a settlement company because you will pay them monthly until they have the amount then pay the creditors and this is very bad on your credit. Mike Denessa from debtsheild helped us call him he was great and helped us decide how to proceed. dont let the bills go beyond 180 days unpaid because they will be charged off as bad/unpaid debt.

Don't wait - contact them immediately, or contact someplace like Consumer Credit Counseling.
