I have 2 dauschund's. This morning they tied together while breeding. Does that tie guarantee puppies? I have been told previously that if the dogs tie then you will have puppies. I just want to know if others know if this true. Please do not tell me to have my dogs spayed and neutered. I have planned to breed my dogs. I am going to do everything right. My female will go to the vet very soon to be checked out. My puppies will all be taken to the vet to have their shots and worming. My dogs are registered and pedigreed. So save your "Get your dog spayed and neutered". I will not listen. I thank everyone who can give me the answer to my question without criticism about spaying and neutering.

To "K" I have had my dogs checked for all the things you have listed. I do not have enough characters to list them. I have alot more to say. My dogs do not have anything wrong with them. There is no record of anyone in their breeding line having any problems. They both have champions in the breeding line! As for all the work it takes to raise puppies, I AM COMPLETELY AWARE OF ALL THE COSTS!!! So, no more answers stating that I am not doing the right thing. My vet has already checked both dogs and both dogs are absolutely healthly. So get a life! I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING. I plan to check everyone who wants to purchase one of our puppies. No puppy will leave my house without a complete check on the possible owners. I do not plan to leave unwanted puppies out there. If no one wants them, then they have a great home right where they will be born.

Unless your male dog is sterile chances are she will have pups, unless the timing wasn't right with her cycle. I hope you thought to have your dog tested for Brucellosis, which is doggie VD. If your going to do it right then that should have been done first. I hope your dogs are at least 2 years of age, because that also would be doing it right. To breed them before this age is a sin. They are still immature. I hope your dogs at least have a Canine Good Citizen title. That would at least tell us their temperament could be okay. Also, doing it right doesn't mean doing it for money. Since your determined to breed your dog I would tell you, most breeders do at least two breedings on a female, every other day. One breeding doesn't necessarily mean puppies. It's all in the timing of the estris cycle. You should take your dog to the Vet and have a smear done to see where she is in her cycle. In about 4 weeks take her for an ultrasound to see if she is indeed pregnant and approximately how many pups she will be having. Make sure your feeding her enough. Put her on a puppy food mixed with her regular food once confirmed. Get your whelping box together. If you don't want to make one then a baby swimming pool will be good, hard plastic not blow up. Make sure you have plenty of blankets to keep the pups warm. Get all your supplies together like, string, betadine, nail clippers, a warming light, a baby scale. You'll need to weigh them everyday. There is alot involved in breeding dogs right! Don't forget they will need two sets of shots and worming before they go to their homes at 8 weeks. Watch mom for mastitis, infection, pups stuck in the birth canal etc. Good luck!

You are NOT "doing everything right". In fact you are completely ignorant as to what "doing everything right" entails.
Have they completed their AKC championships in the ring, thereby proving their quality as breeding stock?

Have you studied their pedigrees to determine possible genetic defects going back decades?

Have you evaluated male and female against the written breed standard to determine why their particular offspring would make a viable contribution to the breed?

Have you done the requisite health clearances & genetic tests?
Were both dogs tested for brucellosis just prior to mating?

Have you had their eyes and hips & patellas certified?

Do you understand the risk to the female in breeding her?

Are you willing to pay for a Caesaran, (quite common, about $1,000.00 + postnatal care)

Are you willing to supplement and tube feed puppies for 24 hours a day?

Are you willing to spend 12 weeks hand raising puppies in your home?

Are you willing to go to the expense of 12 weeks of shots and wormings for however many puppies you bring into the world?

Are you willing to interview dozens of potential pet buyers to determine exactly which ones will be the absolute Best homes for your puppies?

Will you have a spay/neuter clause in your pet buyer contract requiring proof of spaying/neutering before each pup is 6 months old?

Will you GUARANTEE that for if ANY reason during the life of the puppies you've bred, their owners can no longer keep them, they must be returned to you?

they might be pregnant the best way to know is to take her to the vet but the second best way is if she gets fatter or has personality changes. Also just because your dogs are registered and have a pedigree doesn't mean that you are a responsible breeder because the registation and the pedigree are based off the honour system. Another thing you have to ask yourself are the puppies for show or for selling because if they are not for show then that is irresponsible breeding.

Tieing does not always guarantee puppies, but it does give a good chance. I would allow them to do this again tomorrow [takes 24 hours to rebuild the sperm after a mating] if they're willing, especially as this is their first time from the sound of things. If you don't get a pregnancy this time, make sure to have BOTH dogs checked out as the male may have a low sperm count/zero motility issue or some other issue. Prebreeding exams on both of your doxies will help insure your breeding success.

WONDERFUL and congrats to you...

I am so glad someone is doing everything right...

you did however, forget to tell us the titles or Championships you have placed on your 2 dogs prior to breeding...

This is very essential as I am sure you already know...

It will assure people that not only do the parents have a wonderful pedigree but that the parents are in perfect conformation -and have the intelligence and temporment to have been bred.

I am happy to hear that you have conformed to ***doing everything right***. Most people just do not have a clue as to why dogs are shown and titled.

They do have to tie to get pregnant but it is not a guarantee.
the vets for the most part can't tell you for sure until she is about 28 days after tieing.
I have had many tie and not get pregnant but both dogs are good and have had produced litters
Good Luck and glad you are doing what needs to be done.

dogs do no longer seem at it that way, they have a "pecking order" dogs might basically %. up a motherly intuition in uncommon ocasions and that's on condition that they've given start. shall we are saying its you your dogs and you husband and your new child residing interior the domicile, the dogs sees it as a pecking order, extra advantageous than probable it would bypass like this: your husband, you, the dogs, then the new child, once you deliver a clean domestic dog interior the domestic dog will earlier each and every thing be on the tip, yet small dogs have a tendency to dominate enormous dogs. So it must be above that dogs, I certainly have 2 20 lbs cats in my domicile, and then I have been given an exceedingly small dogs, The dogs now dominates the cats. desire this helps!

I'm about 95 percent sure your dog will have puppies. Be sure to start feeding your ***** a high quality puppy food so she and her pups have the proper nutrition.

If they tied and neither dog is sterile or has brucellosis (which as a breeder you would, of course, have tested for prior to breeding), yes, she is pregnant.
